| Single Ended-Parallel or PP Class A Tube Amp? What are the dimensions of your room, and at what decibel level do you typically listen? | |
| LSA speakers? I recommend the Sumiko or Iron Chef set-up method. Do a Google search for the instructions. It takes some time, but the method works very well.Break in is the typical several hundred hours, like any new speaker. The woofers need to loosen up and r... | |
| Have any VAC owners tried any KT-88's I tried original NOS Genelex Gold Monarch KT88, and Penta Labs KT88SC (Shuguang) in my VAC Phi 110/110, and I heard very little difference worth paying the extra $800 for the Genelex tubes. In another VAC amp (MusicBloc 160), I tried Valve Art KT88... | |
| Tube Friendly Speakers - Down to 30Hz - $3000? Feb. 2010 update. In late 2007, I ended up selling the VSA speakers and buying demo Silverline Sonata III loudspeakers, which were close to my $3000 budget, and indeed went below 30Hz. Nice as they were, they turned out not to be as tube friendly a... | |
| Juicy peach/ plinius 8100 Lo Z was the way to go.Your friend might try Amperex 6922 USA white label, or Siemens 6922 (E88CC). These have far more clarity and balance than the Brimar, which are known to sound fuzzy. The Philips you tried might have been made by Amperex, but... | |

| tube options for driving paradigm studio 100s? IMO, if you can't drive the speakers with tube amplification, then attempting to achieve that sound with tubes in the preamp or front end is an unsatisfactory substitute. If you love the sound of speakers driven by tube amplification, then you'll b... | |

| Power Cords Having owned Hydra 3 and Hydra 2, I suggest taking your power cord money and purchasing a Quantum Reference Power Center from Alan Maher Designs. The Quantum Reference Power Center includes a captive power cord, and it has eight receptacles, so it... | |
| Van Halen or Van Hagar Both iterations have their gems and lemons, but I gravitate toward the original line-up. "1984" is an LP that rocks from beginning to end. Also, the Roth version of the band had an occasional sense of humor ("I don't feel tardy") that was refreshing. | |
| Driving myself crazy with TT purchase... I wouldn't sweat the decision. Choose one with good resale value (used VPI, Thorens, Sota) and move forward. If you become enamored with playing vinyl, this starter table will be a blip on your radar as it will be soon replaced with a more expensi... | |

| Power Cords Frankly, among the group you mention, I wouldn't expect you'd hear a difference worth the expense. I'd recommend spending your combined power cord budget on a used Shunayata Python for your Hydra 6, and then possibly purchasing several Volex cords. |
