Did anybody else notice this about PSB Speakers?
At this point in time in the world of high end audio, all recommendations and reviews have to be taken with a healthy dose of skepticism, IMO.
First Sound preamp
Drubin mentions a very good point that I had forgotten. I remember now that the FS took the system loudly very quickly and without subtle adjustments. One setting could be too loud, and one click lower could be too soft...significantly so.I was us...
Thinking about buying Zu Definitions, need advice
Unfortunately there isn't a dealer near me so I haven't been able to listen to the Zu's.You are aware of the 60 day Zu Audio in-home demo program, right? My first question is regarding my room size. It isnt an extremely big room. Length: 16.5ftDist...
Small Footprint Speakers for Rock
Look at the System Audio Ranger.
Tube vs. Solid State Rectifier
IMO, the tubed output stage of an amplifier contributes more to the "tube magic" than does the rectification. However, in my system, components with tube rectification have always sounded smoother and less grainy. So, if was choice, I'd choose tube...

Improving on the Sonata IIIs, which speakers?
...and since I cannot edit my posts, an addendum about JM Reynaud...Bon Neill of Amherst Audio, who is a dealer for JM Reynaud, has a great deal of information about the JM Reynaud products on his website, linked here.
Improving on the Sonata IIIs, which speakers?
Blindjim, I liked the previous suggestion of JM Reynaud as a brand. I wasn't recommending or endorsing a particular model. Sorry for being unclear. Here are some links for information about the RM25XL:Positive Feedback ReviewJoseph Audio literature...
Is Pass Labs Xono An Overkill For Rega P5 TT?
If you're open to the idea that a lower cost phono may actually sound better than the Xono, then look into a Heed Quasar. $999 new. It has excellent flexibility (although nothing I've ever auditiond has the vast flexibility options of the Xono), a...
Improving on the Sonata IIIs, which speakers?
I like Philojet's JM Reynaud suggestion.Perhaps also do some research into the Joseph Audio RM25XL.
