I need help for processor selection
Rkeman reviews a problem I am also having. The new HDMI formats are not yet supported and I am even having a hard time locating a decent Digital switcher that will cover multiple zones with lots of inputs.
Your listening chair
Great thread; just what I needed before going off to work. When us audiophiles get going, nothing is sacred including the age-old black leather chair. Tweak....tweak....tweak....
Herbie Hancock & Chick Corea
Herbie recently released on HEAR label (Starbuck's coffee label) 'POSSIBILITIES" which is a collaboration album with the likes of Jahn Mayer, Paul Simon, Santana, Annie Lennox and there is even a cameo appearance by Stevie Wonder on harmonica.Go t...
Can you suggest a warm high-end CD player?
Audio Aero Capitole Mark II. Do a thread search on 'Audio Aero'.Mine works also as a great pre as it has tubed volumn control and I run my DVD player through it on digital coax, my satellite via toslink and the newest models have an analog passthr...
Need speaker/ interconnect cables for tube set up
What is your price range? If you have so far only used off-the-shelf wire from Radio Shack and Circuit City you will be impressed with some simple upgrades.
The best speaker you ever heard?
Hmm, the battle goes on.....
Acoustic Zen Absolute interconnects
When you reach the quality of AZ, or those that Earflappin mentions you really can't go wrong.
Toslink vs. Digital Coax for Long Run
Hey Squaker, I really don't think that in this situation you will notice a difference. Over 10 feet I would think that toslink with real glass would be best, but again, I don't think you will notice. In general toslink is best on long runs, especi...
Bologna OR Baloney How does this work? Please fee
A slight variation of Nsgarch's suggestion would be to go to the local hardware store and get the foam inlulation used for pipes on your hot water heater and interior plumbing. It already has a 'slit' down the center and is real eash to use and it...
When will a 60"+ true 1080P plasma be available?
Goat, go back to the NEC thread where you just posted and ask that question. I can say that the difference between the 50XM5 and the 50XR5 in terms of inputs is that the 50XM5 has a DVI input that right now could at least accept the 1080p while th...
When will a 60"+ true 1080P plasma be available?
There is not yet a plasma that can display true 1080p but some of them can receive a 1080p signal and then convert it to 720p. The bigger question is how long do you want to wait? There will always be some gimmick coming down the pike worth waitin...

Tubes for HT?
There seems to be a general acceptance that using tubed amps for movies will shorten a tube's life as the sudden loud noises and booming dialog will fatigue a tube. I really don't care about this as I have enough systems and I don't want to go bac...
Anyone heard of Monoprice Cables?
I got into Ebays reviews and there were pages of positive comments on monoprice and only two negatives, each having to to with incorrect shipping dates. I think I will go with their DVI cables but on audio I will probably go with something higher-...
Double your pleasure with same cable throughout?
I have always been of the opinion that one high-end cable or an other is good enough as one can get really crazy experimenting and this can be expensive. The above comments might make me reconsider.
