| Best mm cart for VPI scout/jmv-9 memorial arm Sorry, I don't think that you read my response correctly. The Zephyr is not a moving coil cartridge, it is a moving iron cartridge like a Grado. It has high output and is responsive to both changes in capacitance and resistance, just like a MM cart... | |
| Best mm cart for VPI scout/jmv-9 memorial arm The Soundsmith VPI Zephyr is designed specifically for the VPI tonearms, but it's a moving iron cartridge. | |
| Moving-Coil Step-Up Transformer SUT Hiendmuse, the Elevator is not a SUT, it is an active head amp. Different animal. | |
| Review: Denon DL 103R Cartridge Interesting, I prefer the 103 to the 103R in my system. Given, the 103R is clearer and more liquid, it is also too forward in my system and I find the plain 103 to be much better balanced. YMMV. | |
| MC cart rebuild frequency: a question for you Here is Chong's contact info, he is always happy to answer questions, good luck:http://www.phonocartridgeretipping.comAnd Happy Holidays. | |
| To Tube or not to Tube...... IMHO, solid state amps are more likely to have catastrophic failure than tube amps. That said, I would still skip the tubes. But it's fun to try, and most of us wander down the path, sooner or later. Enjoy the trip. | |
| Integrated tube amp has no bass Cayin A50T Agree with Sounds Real Audio; first check if you have one speaker out of phase. There should be no reason at all that you are lacking bass. | |
| To Tube or not to Tube...... A very different perspective. I run two all tube systems and would suggest that you table the idea. IMHO, there is not that much to gain and a lot of down side. If you are a hands on type and would enjoy tube rolling, playing with bias and waiting... | |
| MC cart rebuild frequency: a question for you One key point to keep in mind, is that generally cartridges wear like tires, progressively and somewhat linearly, not that it is unheard of for a diamond stylus to cleave. That means it is very much a judgment call as to when to replace the cartri... | |
| Tonearm/Cartridge Matching There is much focus on the primary resonance of the arm/cartridge system, but that falls below, or at the bottom of, the audible range. What we should be concerned about are the secondary cartridge/arm resonances that fall completely within the au... | |
| Moving-Coil Step-Up Transformer SUT I use a Denon AU-320 with Kiseki Purple Heart, Klipsch Zenn Hibino MCZ-7, Denon 103D, Denon 103 and Supex SD-900 Super E+ cartridges into a modded and upgraded Seduction. I suppose there are probably better SUTs out there, but I really love it. | |
| 25 year warranty – thoughts invited Thor Audio offered a lifetime warranty. Unfortunately the buyers did not know that it was for the lifetime of the company, which was blissfully short. Caveat emptor. | |
| Primer reading for new Rogue Cronus owner? Agree with philjolet, however keep in mind that the damping factor of the 4 ohm tap will be greater than the 8 ohm tap, though presumably less power will be delivered to an unmatched load, i.e. 4 ohm tap with 8 ohm speaker, but, in terms of db, wh... | |
| Your top 3 worst purchases ever Interesting, two posters have already mentioned the TT Weights Black Onyx. It's mere supposition, but I can't imagine that there are too many of them out there. This can't be good......... | |
| JBL Metregon and Paragon This is a Paragon brochure attributed to 1957:http://www.lansingheritage.org/html/jbl/specs/home-speakers/1957-paragon.htmThe Paragon history, also at the Lansing Heritage site also puts the roll out date at 1957. I was only being born in the late... |
