Interconnects: solid or hollow core wire?
I'm a veteran professional musician...whenever I hear a cable description using the term "rhythmically accurate" I cringe. If a cable is not rhythmic, it's because the dog is chewing on it or somebody with no sense of musical timing is yanking it ...
Is phase control switch a deal breaker for you?
Who is Ralph...and should I care?
Interconnects: solid or hollow core wire?
So now it's "Expanded Core?" Most of my cables, according to the mfgr description, are "soft core". "Hard core" cables are tawdry. Note that silver plated carrots can be used as "veggie core" and plated animal parts strung together are "meat core"...
Is true-biamping now cheaper and easer?
Also, biamping home stereo speakers is an insult to all those brilliant speaker designers who slave away at making great crossovers.
Is preamp remote volume a deal breaker for you?
Regasrding XLRs: I've used balanced cables in pro audio for decades...I've found that better xlr cables really do sound better (surprise), and recently bought a pair of Mogami/Neutrik "Gold" ICs to connect my Kavent balanced preamp to my Forte' Mo...
Is true-biamping now cheaper and easer?
I had a 400 watt biamp made by Kustom (300 watts for bass, 100 watts for treble) to power a pair of Altec A7's for my band in the 70's (huge improvement on the Peavey powered mixer it replaced). So what exactly is new? Also, it sounded great for i...

A ribbon is "flattened core".
Who wants a set of tone controls on preamps?
Having switched from a tone control (albeit defeatable and completely bipassable) preamp to one without them, I can say don't miss the tone controls at all. In fact I WILL say it. There, I said it. I control the bass a little bit by turning the le...
Interconnects: solid or hollow core wire?
Except for some flexible stuff for in-wall or something, I think Audioquest is all solid core.
Is phase control switch a deal breaker for you?
My Dacmagic has a polarity switch...don't use it much but I can tell the difference when I switch it. It's polarizing.
Is preamp remote volume a deal breaker for you?
I have a well designed preamp with remote that sounds great...someday I'll replace it with a VERY expensive preamp and at that time I also plan to pay somebody to sit next to it turning it up and down for me at my whim, thus creating a "win win".
Is preamp remote volume a deal breaker for you?
If I didn't have a remote I'd hear even less of what people (i.e. girlfriend) attempt to say to me when I'm listening to my stereo. I've been to the Alps, and I'm staying.
Amy Winehouse.RIP
As an atheist and a Winehouse fan I find the inappropriate eruption of superstitious religious asshats in this thread absolutely amazing, although I'm hoping it's merely black humor/parody, as distasteful as that may be.
Amy Winehouse.RIP
Yeah...I guess the moderators took the weekend off...I was looking forward to a lot more years of Amy, as she was an actually INTERESTING musician with character and soul and originality...rare in a cookie cutter mass marketed music world. Damn...
logitech touch - tech success...marketing flop?
None of my "civilian" (non gear obsessed) friends have even heard of the SB Touch...a classic case of the high end geek/hobbiest community being completely separated from the great unwashed, even for an amazing inexpensive product. A shame.
