Vacuum Tube Retailer Option
Yeah man…Mullard 6201s and 4024s…I simply bought them from "Uppity," they sent them to me, and I used them. Just not that difficult at all.
Rolling KT150s in Primaluna hp integrated
I prefer the sound of KT120s over 150s (I used 'em in both a push-pull and a single ended amp, the use of which was approved by the manufacturers of both amps) for reasons I can't explain as they're subtle, or I can't remember what they are. Somet...
Vacuum Tube Retailer Option
Thetubestore, Tube Depot, and even Uppity Audio for some flashing Mullards…all no problemo.
New system has fatiguing, harsh high frequency sounds. How to fix?
I thought it was spelled "micro arching" but I stand corrected…otherwise it could be a small scale podiatry problem. I agree that the goo promotion was surprising with an aura of desperation. Did sales slow down somehow?I have dimmers all over my ...
New Tweak --- Its Fantastic
Deoxit has a proven track record and basically claims to do exactly what Magic Goo does, albeit at much lower cost with instant results (I have no idea how long I've been using it as the pesky stuff lasts forever). That is the definition of "apple...
Disappointed w/ Klipsch Heresy III. Now what?
I might have said this before but I don't think the Heresy IIIs "sound" like horns really, but maybe that's just me (I use horn loaded speakers in my studio, pro mixing gigs, and have owned a lot of speakers including Altec A7s years ago…now that'...
New Tweak --- Its Fantastic
Note that for every 10 bottles of this stuff, $3000 goes somewhere, with a forum based promotional campaign unique to only a few products I know of: SR fuses, both black and blue (and maybe one other red version can be included), and this Magic Go...
New Tweak --- Its Fantastic
Since it’s going to be a long time before my can of Deoxit runs out, I plan to wait patiently to see if the audio community at large embraces the Magic Goo, and consequently wakes up to what is seemingly an epidemic of micro-arching. There’s a rea...
Mellow speakers for a digital piano
JBL used to make a very cool keyboard speaker that someone I worked with in the early 80s used. It had a shallow but tallish cabinet, a 15" woofer and one of those "bullet" tweeters.
Getting into tubes
Stop. Don't do it…sure, they might "sound" better, but you're entering a rabbit hole of tube rolling and possible tube obsession that is often impossible to escape. There simply is no cure...purveyors of solid state amps generally say "Hey, our st...
New Tweak --- Its Fantastic
Definition of fantastic1 a : based on fantasy (see 1fantasy 3) : not realb : conceived or seemingly conceived by unrestrained fancy"fantastic new space and nuclear weapons" —Jack Raymondc : so extreme as to challenge belief : unbelievablea fantast...
Deoxit for cables
I think applying the term "theoreticaly" to a statement of the obvious (Contact cleaners clean the contacts. Who knew?) shows a clear disregarding of irony. Yping, you are an Irony Dodger.
Is Spiking Necesarry?
I misspelled "is" in my criticism of misspellings. Also, I have Vibrapods on things, although my 2 subs don't…they're on the floor making bass sounds so I allow them a pass to bend the floor with aplomb (!). Clearly I should not be let out of the ...
Mellow speakers for a digital piano
Note that you can "mellow" sound with EQ…on a mixer…generally any mixer.
Deoxit for cables
How can cleaning contacts which, for me anyway, allows signal to get through, dull that signal? Do people actually think signal is transformed by simply allowing it to be signal? Is it more "signally?"
