2-channel vs 3-channel/5channel
If you do decide to move to surround sound, I'd suggest adding the center channel last as you may find you don't need it (so long as your processor can direct center channel dialog to the mains).
Are Gemme Audio G5 Tonic any good?
While Gemme is out of business, most of their drivers we're " off the shelf " units. I was able to source a spare tweeter and woofer from Madisound for less than $80. not that Ineeded them, I just wanted backups ( just in case), because the Tantos...
How does the Peachtree amp and Dac compare...?
More information about your needs would help us provide advice. That said, I've owned a Peachtree Decco and felt it was a terrific value in that it offered a DAC, AMP, and tubed stage for my home office needs. Well built, and can be had for little ...
Are Gemme Audio G5 Tonic any good?
The Tonic line was Gemme's entry line of speakers which were developed after their more expensive Vivace, Tanto, and Katana models.I own a pair of Tanto V2s and can tell you they are fantastic and I plan on keeping them a long time. While I haven'...
Assitance needed recalling a speaker's name.
Your description reminds me of B&O BeoLab 5000. (?)
Emotiva XSP-1 Pre-amp
Runnin makes a solid point. i had an mmc-1 processor that worked flawlessly in the time that I owned it, and still have an emotiva IPS-1 amp that is fantastic, but I would be hesitant to go back to one of their processors afer the UMC debacle. I'm...

Is this directed at me? :-)
Mcintosh MX120 for theater
I have the MX-120. In my opinion, it's a 2-channel pre-amp with the added capability (convenience) of processing surround sound. But, what it lacks "on paper" it more than makes up for in sound quality in either environment. There are processors ou...
Subs: sealed vs. ported
I don't know much (anything) about your Yamaha, so wouldn't be able to offer any advice on settings. I suspect you've fiddled with bass settings "per mode". I know some AVRs offer the option either a basic crossover to the sub, or summing the low ...
Subs: sealed vs. ported
Good to hear English,I'd be interested to hear your thoughts once you'e spent some time with the ULS. I think you'll find it provides ample amounts of bass. Best of luck.
Subs: sealed vs. ported
English, I do not have any experience with the Stadium III. I'd read some of the professional reviews to see if its the one for you. One thing to look into: Can the Stadium be hooked up via speaker terminals and a processor's SUB OUT simultaneousl...
Subs: sealed vs. ported
I have not used the wireless function on the ULS-15s. My subs are set up stereo fashion next to my mains. Wireless...it's nice to have the option, I just haven't needed it. And yes, it would make finding the right location easier. The only possibl...
Subs: sealed vs. ported
The main benefit of dual subs in my opinion is having the ability to balance the low frequencies throughout the room, especially for music. The downside is you might find yourself looking for another black box to EQ the subs (more boxes and $$$)I'...
Subs: sealed vs. ported
Everyone has their preferences. Some "Audiophiles" would even gasp at the thought of using sub woofers in a 2-channel rig. Your initial findings are generally correct. I would first look at your intended uses. Mostly home theater and lots of Decep...
"Dented tweeters — Does not affect sound "
Thanks Markpao, I'm going to offer that fellow double his asking price. ;-)I've always held A'goners (as individuals) in a higher regard than on other listing sites, and I hate the thought of this turning into a flea-bay alternative where dented t...
