Just buy blank CD-Rs to record on, all is done and they sound great, just bought 100 of them not long ago.
the smoothest sounding speaker
Silverlines are very smooth, when at CES last year, Alan's Silverlines were 1 of those rooms that seemed effortless, a nice place to relax with a glass of wine.I my room, they are the smoothest I have had, and with my hardwood floors, with rug dow...
CD player straight into amps?
I have had a Wadia 830, 850 GNSC, and now a Camelot Uther, all of which were run directly into the amps with great success. I used to own pre amps, like BAT, Sonic Frontiers, B&K, that were nice, but the sound directly seems more refined and a...
are any of your friends audiophiles?
Yes, my brother and best friend, who unfortunately live on the other side of the country, are both into this, too bad I moved out to Reno, can't seem to get people here together, and I think there are a few.
Small Floor Stander or Monitor For Large Room
Thanks for the responses, the Totems and Silverlines are still a "house sound" that I seem to like, I was told to look at the SP Tech Timepiece or mini, they look interesting too.Z
Small Floor Stander or Monitor For Large Room
My price range is no more the $1400 new or used.
Seeking best digital amp for $2000
I would look at Ric Schultz's 500 amp, he does some nice modding to the standard ICE chips, and can custom to your in/output needs. I think they are at $2000 new as well.
What equipment do you most regret parting with??
Odyssey amps, BAT pre
How do you pay? Why?
I agree with the Paypal preference. I too have been burned twice now with members who's feedback seems genuine. Alot of times if there is a problem with the item, not as advertised, Paypal will atleast stand by you through the process of determini...
bi-amp with a tube amp and SS
I would try a SS pro amp with gain control on the bottom end, and let the tube amp do the the mids and highs, as that is where most of the "magic" of tubes will be realized.
jm labs focal vs definitive technology
I agree with both of the above statements, I liked the LMlab 936 alot, the Definitives are not as refined, articulate, etc. The bipole Definitives to give more of a mid room sound, are a good value when doubling as theater fronts.
Monoblocks with lots of bottom end?
Maggies and the like are really good with the "digital" type amps that are out there. I have personally had the Bel Canto M300, the Carver Pro ZR1600, and the Acoustic Reality 1001, all monoblocks, and all have more clean, clear bass than the Clas...
Silverline Sonata or ? Comparable to what I heard
I have the Sonata II and auditioned the JMlabs 936, Von Schweikert VR4Jr, and Tyler Taylo III during my selection. The Sonatas seemed to match my system and room the best. The V4jrs were warmer, JMlabs were more dynamic (2nd choice), and the Tyler...
Which components knocked you out on first listen?
I had a Classe 400 that Was doing a fine job, until I sat this little Acoustic reality ICE amp down next to it. Way more open on both extremes, much better bass, and a much cleaner sound without being digital. I could not believe all that from 12 ...
Behringer DEQ2496 HELP
I am having the problem of the input being to high as well. It is optical out of a Philips DVD player. I had to turn the Gain Offset in the Utility page down to -10 before the clip was not going off all the time. Is there a way to adjust the input...
