Anyone have issues with shipping Canada to USA?

Saw something on Agon I’d like to get but seller is in Canada. I’ve heard all the stories of getting slapped with customs and duty charges and curious of any advice on how to go about this in the best way or whether it’s worth doing at all. Product was a set of cables less than $200 if that matters at all. Thanks!

I just bought something.  No problems.  Took about a week to arrive.  There was a fee, but the value was around $1K.
Purchased used Harbeth 40.1 speakers and paid no additional fees. No issues.
I bought a tube preamp from a Canadian seller recently and it cost me about $50 via USPS. Took about a week to get it with no problems.

1. always claim full cost

2. shipping Can Post-USA postal service with expedited service ie; 5 business days cost a fraction more but it covers the border-brokerage fees and will go through easier and faster.

3. insure for actual cost.

4. pack well with no or little movement inside the box. put actual size and weight on box for shipping info.

5 if used state used.

do that an you will have very few issues.

Small items marked used should be no problem when shipped Canada Post. After it clears customs, USPS continues with the delivery.

I purchased components from Canadian dealers and they would only ship UPS. The delivery was quick, but there was always a fee. I've heard a private sale from Canada will not incur a fee.
Purchased an integrated amp from Finale Audio in Canada a few months back had no issues of any kind whatsoever with customs nor shipper

You would think with the North American Free Trade agreement there would be no problems. Every time I have order something from Canada, mostly books, it is a nightmare. Only ship UPS. When something is shipped to me Canadian Post, half the time it just never arrives and if it does it is damaged. Only stuff shipped UPS has a chance. Personally I don't buy anything from Canada anymore. I have found that it is quicker and cheaper to have stuff shipped from England.

Ship Canada Post and mark as used and you should have no issues -- at $200 I don't think any duty is due anyways. I've shipped loads of things both ways via the post office with no issues
