However one thinks about the LP 12 sound you have to admit that it’s a great business model but not so great for the consumer.
Why do we have to admit that?
How can you have that many improvements/upgrades?
Perhaps because it has been in continuous production for more than 45 years.
... the price of these improvements/upgrades are just obscene for what you get ... I’ve never heard one so they may sound great.
How can you claim the price is "obscene" if you’ve never heard one? That just doesn’t make sense.

... it's easily been the most hyped product in the entire history of domestic audio since it's rather dubious origins.
That's just silly. If you're talking about over-hyped audio products, it's tough to top the Bose 901s. On the other hand, the Linn LP12 still delivers excellent performance, even if it's not to your taste. Neither does the Linn have "dubious origins." In fact, it's especially easy to trace its lineage, so I'm not sure what your point is. One thing for certain: there are many people who have a distaste for the LP12. It's a polarizing product. I've never understood why, even though it's not my preference either.

... the Linn is way overpriced ... all audiophile products are overpriced ...
If you really believe that, you're probably in the wrong hobby.
