My experience after lost of 20k$

I am not happy because I have paid more than 20k$ for PC Audio.
if you like sound of Audionote/kondo/living voice horn/old tannoy/carbon cable then I 100% recommend you to forget PC Audio and just go for CEC TL-X 3.0 transport.

do not go for PC Audio.
if you should go for PC audio just do this:
macbook pro 15" MJLQ2LL/A or MJLT2LL/A model 2015
Wavelength USB DAC Crimson or Cosecant
Purist Audio 30 Anniversary USB Cable 1m

remember I have tested all pc , caps , reclockers all cables all thing in this market , do not pay for them.

PC audio has opened up a whole new world of music at my fingertips. I use Roon and Tidal and my love for music has increased. I am listening to more new artists and styles of music than ever before in my life. No more CDs to try and find and clutter my living space. Best sound I have ever encountered, but it does require great knowledge and effort. Both CD spinners and PC audio can sound equally marvelous and that to me is not the real question or point.

To extract great sound from PC audio DC power supplies are the key. Great sounding linear power supplies to power your computer/streaming front end and reclocker/filters are the key. I love how easy it is for me to read or hear about an artist and then play that recommendation seconds later. Oh my what an absolute musical miracle.

Frankly the advent of this medium has helped move my gear to the backseat in terms of priority vs enjoying and having a passion for music. The wonderful world of new music is at my fingertips and I am so thankful.
Being able to select music from the comfort of my chair using an iPad running the Roon remote is magic.  Roon runs on a Mac Mini connected to an Ayre QX-5/20 digital hub via ethernet, KX-5/20 preamp, and VX-5/20 amp driving KEF Reference 1s supplemented below 50 Hz by a pair of Velodyne HGS-10 subs.  The music comes from discs I've ripped, Hi-Res downloads, and Tidal.  I think the sound is superb.

I find this tread very strange indeed, hearing many of you talking about all the problems that streaming and computers make in your life!
I 2 years ago installed Roon on my MacBook Pro, I have my music library on a 2tb ext hd, that’s get copied to an other 2tb hd every week automatically, usb from my computer to my Dac into my amp, with my iPad I control Roon with Tidal, everything easy and relaxing in use, sound is wonderful, so wonderful that I never use my Meridian 588 anymore, as I think the Roon nucleus is too expensive for what it is, I am probably going to upgrade to an iMac or a Mac mini where I also can do my photo editing, but using a pro-ject Ethernet endpoint into my usb Dac. As with CD players, in streaming your Dac is the most important part, streaming just makes everything easier.
ps... after. Getting all my cd collection on my hd, I now, when I buy a cd, inport it streight away into Roon without ever playing it in my CD player.
This is why you don’t take advise from these forums. Especially the starter of this forum. No idea what he/she/them are talking about! I have been a vinyl guy along time. I love vinyl. It’s got nothing ( depending on the vinyl record) on my digital front end. I find myself listening to my digital front end all the time. SOUND QUALITY, ease of use and choices at my finger tips. If your serve sucks, your just not doing it right. It does not take a huge amount $ to have a quality set up. Lap tops are definitely not the way to go (for better sound). Desk top, windows 10, AO, good usb card, Roon and hdplayer((my choices (Though no AO in my new servo, SGM design) jriver cheaper bit perfect sound)). Just do the real research. Special cables your last concern. DAC/server/software/Enjoy!

1. Basic PC and NAS.
2. Data only USB cable.
3. Marantz HD-DAC1 $400 when noone knew them yet, with Bluesound Node 2i in, $499.
3. Audioquest King Cobra $120.
4. Parasound Zamp v.3 second hand $180.
5. DYI cables, silver, gold spades.
6 ProAc Tablette 50 second hand. $300

$1500 is a hell lot of money for an Appalachian country boy.
You city parasites with deep pockets can boast about 20k, not in this lifetime for me:)
Sound divine to my ears, especially native DSD.
I’m feeling some hostility in this thread.,

He replies as he puts on some Miles Davis "Kind of Blue" and sits down in his favorite chair to drink some Black Label
Audiophiles are NEVER hostile. Argumentative, rude, vociferous, angry, petulant, overly analytical, vicious, nasty... but not hostile. We all like each other.. Like family....
