@everyone. Just ordered EAR 868 pre amp fellas. I also had a wonderful listening session this weekend with Rick Schultz from high fidelity cables. His ultimate reference cables and power cords are off the chains.
@ pops@waxwaves@gammajo@audiolabryinth @all the others on the old tara labs thread. Let's get it started again.
@waxwaves. There are some haters on the ct1 thread. They are very sensitive over there. Lol.
@waxwaves. There are some haters on the ct1 thread. They are very sensitive over there. Lol. I now own the tara labs 2ex with ism on board interconnect. Lifelike and great with my jazz quartets. Sounds Live.
@pops. I almost bought the 0.8 ex. Tell me the differences you hear when you put them in. I'm thinking about moving the nordost Tyr out from my amp to pre amp and using the tara labs 0.8ex in its place. I currently use the Tyr from amp to pre and the tara labs 2 ex from pre amp to the parasound cd1 CD player. I heard that they were full, open and vivid with good image placement. Would that be what you are hearing with them.
@waxwaves. I agree. They are great cables. I would buy again without hesitation. Things are lifelike. They sound real. The cymbals and drums sound great. Just right.
@misternice I tried the 6h30 dr tubes on my ayon cd2s. They are good tubes but in my system it didn't help enough. However they are probably the best tube in that tube family. They add a more body to the sound without losing detail.

@tbooo keep running them in for about 10 to 12 more days they should sound a lot better.
@audiolabyrinth. I'm selling it on audiogon. It's a great piece I just like trying other stuff. I'm enjoying an audio bucket list. Kieth don't let what people say bother you so much. Say what you want be how you want. Lol
@snook2. I would like to know the answer to that too. It would be an interesting comparison.
@ audiolabryinth. I have heard the elrod power cables. They are the truth. Very thick but the truth. Serious cord. My dealer let me demo for two weeks. They are expensive but very very good.
@audiolabryinth. It is used. They don't make them anymore. It is the sc7s2 marantz preamplifier. It is in champagne color and it is absolutely the most beautiful piece of equipment I have ever purchased. It is heavy and built like a tank. It is in pristine condition with no scratches on it. It sound great. It is warm and very musical. It gives you a mid hall perspective however I put some cables made by a European company vovox on them along with the tara labs 2 ex with ism interconnect with my clarus crimson speaker cable and it sounded great. It brought the sound stage up more to my liking. The sound is one that is musical. It is very non fatiguing. The highs are a little rolled off slightly but they are well extended and you don't lose detail. This piece is unique because it is slightly warm but you don't lose transparency or detail. We went to my friend golden sound house first. The first system we tested was with gato pm6 speakers, atlas mavros speaker cables, nordost Tyr interconnect, tara labs 2 ex ism interconnect, mark levinson amplifier 532 h, parasound cd1. With the ear 868 and using telefunkins as tubes. The ear has a glorious midrange and the voices were great but it sounded like there was a glow in that area compared to the marantz. It was a great sounding glow but to me it's not realistic sounding. It has kind of a faux jump factor in the midrange. Its great for vocals but the Marantz sc7s2 does more in terms of long listening sessions with my quartet jazz. It won't wow you it just takes in what you feed it and gives you back sweet music that you can listen to for long extended periods. I used the marantz sc7s2 with the parasound cd1 and the Macintosh mcd301. The parsound was a great listen and is the better player out of the two in the ear 868 combination. However the Macintosh mcd301 sounded better on my marantz sc7s2 with the vovox cables and we tried some mit hd 50 RCA interconnects as well that sounded great. However in my system with the marantz the Macintosh mcd 301 sounded better than the marantz parasound cd1 combination. With the ear 868 the parasound cd1 was great it gave the music great organics and widened the soundstage. When we put the parasound cd 1 in with the ear 868. It easily beat the other player hands down. However on the Marantz sc7s2 the cd1 does not mate together well. So I left my friends house and I took the marantz home to try in my system. I use vienna acoustics beethoven baby grands symphony edition/ classe ca 2200 amplifier/ clarus crimson speaker cables/ vovox textura interconnects / tara labs 2 ex with ism on board/ oppo 95 CD player /marantz sc7s2 reference preamplifier. With this combination at home I had a 6 hour listening session with cecile mclorin salvant, Gerald Clayton, terra lynn carrinton, chris Botti live in boston and Miguel zenon. I got a great sound out of this combination the tara labs 2 ex gave it some separation and live feel with Great organic layering. The vovox gave it body and separation and extended the highs and fleshed out the midrange and voices more. It did not have the glow of the ear 868 but it was a pleasing sound that didn't just spotlight one area. You paid more attention to the musicians as opposed to the female vocals. I also got great performance out of the oppo 95 as my source. This oppo 95 player benefits greatly from great balanced interconnects and great power cords if you can add them. I used a cable from the uk from clearer audio called the silver line Optimus. The parasound cd 1 also sounded great but I liked the oppo 95 more in this system. The parasound cd 1 with the ear 868 in the other system hit home runs but in my home system using the marantz sc7s2 I was very happy with the oppo 95. I got a 6 hour listening session in so that tells you that you have some secret music sauce cooking to listen that long. In closing, the marantz sc7s2 is a keeper. Remember however, it's all about system matching. Some equipment and cables will sound better in other applications. It is all system dependent. Changing one major piece can change your whole sound. A different amp, pre amp, CD player or source and/or a speaker can change what you hear. Also look at your room acoustics, speaker placement and seating position. These are othe factors to consider. I hope this extensive review helps someone.
He is selling the preamp. He actually had it before I did. It's been well taken care of. Those are not my speakers they are the mozart mine are the beethoven baby grand se and they are not going anywhere and the parasound is not mine. He has his own. I'm keeping mine. I'm never selling it.
It's great. I'm happy with them. They are the same but that is a good thing. I love them how they are.
@audiolabryinth. I hope the cables are broken in. Also I heard a full loom of them this past weekend with the the new high fidelity power cables. This was an all tube system featuring pre amps and amps from raven audio. It sounded great. Remember in our system there are usually 12 to 15 factors and connections and the focus has to be putting an entire system together that works in unison. I heard one this past weekend featuring all high fidelity ultimate reference cables.
@audiolabryinth. I don't care about the award. I know what I heard. I heard these high fidelity ct1 ultimate reference cables in an all tube system and the speed, clarity and prat was unreal. I don't care about awards. It's about the sound. I don't care about one being better than the other. You will get different sound and different presentations. I think both companies make great cables. I just know that I got to hear a fully cabled high fidelity ct1 ultimate reference cabled system and it sounded great. I was impressed. I want a great system. Cables, components and power cords working in unison.
@ judyazblues and audiolabryinth. I think there are great cable makers out here. I am not an award kind of guy I listen to the music. They are both great cable makers. High fidelity and tara labs. I have been impressed with both. I was just reporting what I heard this weekend. Great sound come in variety. There is no one great sound. There are multiple ones and it all depends on taste. When I hear a great system or cables I will tell people. Maybe they both are great or it could be a matter of taste. I just know what I heard this weekend sounded great. High fidelity is a great cable. I have listened to more than 25 different cable brands. You can't go wrong with them. Also what I have heard from tara labs is good
@audiolybaryinth. I waiting for my e.a.r 868 to arrive. My friend brought his to my house today and we ahead against a cary slp05 that was loaned to me by my dealer. The ear 868 beat it hands down. The cary is a good pre amp but I can't wait until my brand new ear 868 arrives. I have found my pre amp for at least the next 5 years if not longer.
I am still waiting. However. My friend who has one loaned it to me till tomorrow. I been listening to it for the last two days. I am as happy as I ever been. That thing is the truth. I hate to give the ear 868 back tomorrow. I had one ct1 and one tara lab 2 ex ironically. It sounded great. The e.a.r 868 is pretty damn good. I changed interconnects to other stuff. It sounded different but still good. I have heard great systems the last two weekends but for what I am paying for the system I have. I am happy. I also tired of changing equipment. I want to spend my time listening. I also got my rel 528 today. The rel is musical. It added a musically tight bass to my viennas. The guys who help me evaluate my system don't like subs but in the two high end systems I heard the last two weekends. One had a huge sub and the other had a separately powered driver in the yg acoustic speaker. I like subs so the rel was perfect for the viennas. I'm pretty much done. I have a ear 868 on the way. I have a classe ca 2200. I have the parasound cd1. I have some high fidelity cables and some tara labs. I have some Clarus and tributaries cables as well. I can mix and match and tube roll my ear 868 if I want a different sound. For my listening room anything else is overkill. I think I'm done once my ear arrives. I'm gonna find the right dac and call it a day. I'm really happy with my sound. Can I get better? But at what price? And how long? I want to get my stuff and listen to my tunes. Stop blowing my retirement and actually listen to my tunes. Lol. A great high end system in a great listening room with great cables is great. I'm going to allow myself to be satisfied for once and call it a day. I really liked the set ups I heard with high fidelity cables and raven electronics. I also liked the MIT set up with dartzeel electronics and yg acoustics speakers. Both guys had perfect listening rooms and the set up was amazing. Maybe I get there one day. But for now I'm going to sit back and enjoy what I can at this level.
@audiolabryinth. We are good. You know you are tara labs biggest fan. But when I see a product maker like high fidelity and I personally know Rick stands behind his product I keep it real. I just tell it like it is.
@audiolabryinth. We are good. You know you are tara labs biggest fan. But when I see a product maker like high fidelity and I personally know Rick stands behind his product I keep it real. I just tell it like it is. Plus we both had that ayon and it went bright and thin on us and the letters came off the remote and the dealer wouldn't replace it. Rick is not that kind of guy.
@audiolabryinth. I heard tara labs" the one "interconnect. It sounds good with grounding station.
I'm still demoing it. I've learned it takes a long listen on this stuff to truly know what it is doing or not doing. Had an amazing listening session Sunday though.
@audiolabyrinth. high fidelity ultimate reference will go in my system tomorrow. I will shoot you out a report. I also thought the taralabs the one was a real good interconnect. I'm going to put the high fidelity ct1 enhanced loom with ultimate reference power cord tomorrow. Will report out soon.
@audiolabyrinth. Listened to the high fidelity ultimate reference power cord today. All I got to say I a wowwwwww. It's the truth!!!!!!!!! Man best powercord I have ever heard period. I have tried a lot and it is the best. Look at my review on high fidelity thread.
@misternice@audiolabryinth. The speed, depth and naturlness of this cable is amazing. The technology is different. If thi was the Wild West it would have the quickest draw. Lol
@audiolabryinth @ibelieve. The high fidelity ultimate reference power cable took my system and added speed and realism that is unreal. I don't know what anybody else does. I know the cables are expensive but if you're spending money at this level. Your main concern is that it works like nothing you have heard before. This cable does that in a musical way in spades!!! Gets the job done. The END!!!!!!! Lol.
@misternice @whart@audiolabryinth. The veloce is really good. The high fidelity ultimate reference speaker cables along with the veloce gave my ears a steroid shot. It have it weight details and naturalness that I had not experienced before. Very pleasing sound. The is combination gave very an extremely deep look into the soundstage with great prat. I'm in audio heaven. There are cable and equipment makers out here that really try to make it better. Veloce audio and High fidelity cables are two brands in high that I know deliver sound in spades.
Hey fellas I'm demoing the veloce amps and pre amps. The pre amp is a joy. The amps go deep and wide and have great detail. Transparency is to die for. I see what they say now about the next level of sound. They are amazing. I put a high fidelity ultimate reference interconnect in with the high fidelity ultimate reference speaker cables. I also have a high fidelity ultimate power cord on my parasound cd1. This sound is flat out amazing. The veloce stuff is all battery power. Clean power with no dirty ac power coming out of the wall. The high fidelity ultimate reference gives it the speed and naturalness. This combination is really good. I am listening to all my music over again. The soundstage is thru my back wall. The decays are flat out natural but extended. Drum work in my system is a delight. I'm going to fight sleep listening to this stuff.
@audiolabryinth. Hey it's funny how every once in a while people can get rude and snobby of the forums. I just don't respond to them. I just keep the audio going. You either love the audio or you don't. I have a friend who just purchased a vehicle and is selling his audio. I understand how he feels but my audio is here to stay. I might have to go back to my ear 868, classe combination after the veloce but I'm going to enjoy my veloce demo for now. Sometimes audio can be a status thing. For me it is not. I clearly just want to hear the best. Music is intoxicating to me especially when you have great cables and gear hooked up. I have been on a journey the last 4 or 5 months. I heard a system out in Murphy that was great. It had $100000 yg acoustics and dartzeel amps and pre amps. The room was customized. It was sound proofed and had the top end of mit cabling. The lighting was set up to make the speakers actually disappear during the listening session. Really great sound, electronics and atmosphere was really unique because of the abba co da bra lighting to not see the speakers. If could afford an all out assault like that I would be all in. I then when out to southlake and heard another great system using high fidelity cabling and raven electronics. I then went to Plano to hear kr audio kr900. This system was not as expensive as the other but it was very pleasing. Then I went out to east Texas to design audio video and heard raihdo speakers with soulution amplifiers. It was organically amazing and room filling. I went to McKinney to hear the kr audio 900 on the gato fm 6 speakers It was truly a satisfying room filling joy as well. The highs were really clear and the mid range and bass were kicking. I then went to the other side of McKinney and heard voxativ speakers on luminance audio amplifiers and it was a clear and fast sounding transparent system. Especially on jazz. It had the best of the best of high fidelity cables ultimate reference speaker cables, interconnects and power cords. It was whip like fast on jazz and rythyms. I hated to leave the room. I then was allowed to demo the veloce amp and pre amp with my vienna acoustic speakers and high fidelity ultimate reference cabling throughout. I'm using my little vienna acoustics beethoven baby grand se speakers. I'm in that moment when listening to my system here. I can see though the music. The jazz has pace and and rythym like never before. It just fast detailed but still organic and full. I have been blessed to hear all of these different systems that all sound great in different ways. All my audiophiles enjoy your journey because I have. It's about the sound you can put together. True audiophiles are sound first and cost later. Lol. We just want to mainline on the music. We want to tweak and geek till we pass out lol. The hobby should bring you joy. Is it expensive yes but at least you spend hours and hours smiling in your sessions. Enjoy to all who are will to come to our twilight zone and for those who are not. Protect your accounts and cars etc. if you truly hear the good stuff you are gonna lose it all on one trip to OZ. Lol.

Protect your accounts and cars etc. if you truly hear the good stuff you are gonna lose it all on one trip to OZ. Lol. The system brings me joy not the BLUES. I'm not a Debbie Downer I stay HAPPY like the song. I have listen to wide range of equipment and systems. That are put together differently. I think I have heard 8 to 10 different systems and I have gained a lot of experience in audio to truly understand what a system, cable, speaker, interconnect etc. can and can't do. I have heard pieces at different price points up to 2 systems that are more the 150k and then other systems at 100k then those that cost 20k to 50k. It does get better when you spend more. It can get really really good up the chain but you can can also get satisfying sound at the lower range. If it makes you happy go for it. If it doesn't then stay on the sidelines and heckle. Lol.
@audiolabryinth. Well in terms of the improvement a different price points you would first have to understand that the 3 or 4 most expensive systems I have heard were put together by guys that either have a lot if experience in the industry or have sold and heard a lot of equipment. For example, the most expensive system I heard was the one that had the yg acoustics speakers and mit cables on it and the dartzeel amp and pre was great. The owner built it to suit his tastes and sound in music. He treated the room took measurements etc. He created a great sound and listening environment. The yg were design to give you a totally even response. They did that really well. It's not always about the equipment but the system as a whole has to be quality and it has to be set up properly. The higher end stuff can be mind blowing good. It should be for the price. I can't put a percentage on it. There are a lot variables. Sound is more than just the equipment. It is the room, power, speaker placement, equipment matching, cable matching. I didn't even mention one of the most important which is the recording itself. I believe you can put good systems together for 25000. When you go up the chain to 50000 it's gets better and so on up to the crazy mega system that I heard. But when you get that high you are talking dedicated rooms, tweaks and even modification of some equipment. The mega system with the high fidelity ultimate reference system withe voxativ speakers and the ayon dac was great. It was very natural sounding system and it also achieved the sound that the owner wanted. Great depth soundstage and speed with natural sound. The soulution electronics raihdo speaker system was unreal. It gave you the impression that gave you had endless soundstage and depth. It was ultra smooth. That's what the owner wanted. He has an aversion to bright treble. It treble ever gets harsh it drives him crazy. I'm also in the same camp. I like his system because my preference was the same as his almost to a tee. It depends on what you like. The more expensive stuff in most cases can take you to a deeper and farther level of what you seek. I came to the conclusion that I will keep my parasound cd 1 as my cd front end because of its continued performance in all my own systems I put together. It has qualities I like. I heard two other really expensive systems but they were put together for the purpose of getting the owner exactly what they sought in sound signature. If I had the money I would get the best I could because I love the music. I want it to be as real as possible. Great systems don't have to cost you a house or car but if you want to climb the mountain then why not. A great system is great because YOUR ear likes it. But our ears are all different. My audio buddies have different preferences. There are about 7 guys in the circle that I know and they all have vastly different tastes in sound. The systems range from 25,000 up to 300,000 but they all are satisfying to their owners fro different reasons and they get the job done. But it should never be about cost. If you can put together a 5000 or 10000 system that you like then you should be happy with it. However I must admit that the really expensive stuff is in a whole other world good. It puts the performers in the room with you. It can be stunning the amount of performance you get out of the best equipment in the hobby. Amps, pre amps, sources, cables and power cords all matter no matter what the people say. The better you get the better the sound. The better you match the better the sound.
@audiolabrytinth. Hey I'm gonna wait and be careful on choosing my equipment. Sometimes I can be impatient on getting my system together. The veloce is a great piece I just need to make sure I'm gonna go in on it. Gonna take my time.
@audiolabryinth. What's up. The veloce is the bomb keith. High fidelity+veloce + parasound cd1+ vienna acoustics beethoven baby grand + rel528 = my best sound ever. Also I heard on of the best integrateds in the kr900.
@whats up keith. These high fidelity cables with the veloce is intoxicating. I hope you are enjoying the tara labs. I bet they are great cables for your system. I'm just happy you found something that makes you happy.
@audiolabyrinth. That came out of nowhere. Did somebody as you something about that. Why would someone do another cable company after they already are involved in tara labs. I'm just interested. It would be hard not to share what was being used at the first company. What do you think.
He is selling the preamp. He actually had it before I did. It's been well taken care of. Those are not my speakers they are the mozart mine are the beethoven baby grand se and they are not going anywhere and the parasound is not mine. He has his own. I'm keeping mine. I'm never selling it. We both have one. Great observation but check my threads. I have the beethoven baby grand. My parasound is not going anywhere. Lol
Putting a matching system together is important. People think it's just a cable or company shoot out. You got to match your stuff up. Total system performance.
@audiolabryinth. What happened to all the other guys. Did you run them off.
@audiolabryinth. You are Mr. Tara Labs. I did like talking to them. I wonder what happened to the guys. Lol. Kieth you were tara labs from birth.
@everyone. Music suggestions. What are y'all listening to on all this high priced gear. Lol
@audiolabyrinth. Did the you check out the resonessence mirus dac I told you about.
@audiolabyrinth. Uh ohh trouble in tara labs thread paradise. Lol. We know how this can go. Lol.
