bryston 4b sst- could you or should you turn

Looking at a bryston 4b sst amp , but I am the type of person that does not leave anything ( lights, etc. ) on when not in use. Can I turn this amp off when not in use and just turn in on when in use, maybe a couple of hours per day or should I look for a different amp that does not require to be left on all the time?

Turn it on when you want to and don't worry about the small benefits of leaving
it on 24/7. The amp should sound good immediately and improve for about the
first 30 to 45 minutes.

If you want a "green" amp you can leave on 24/7, then you need to
consider a digital/chip amp. However, you should only consider amps that
double power output as loudspeaker impedance is halved so the performance
will equal the performance 4B SST into all loads.

IMO.
Tvad,
Please explain further about (However, you should only consider amps that

sorry for the lack of knowledge, still trying to move into higher end audio.

Actually, Gary, I was mistaken. The 4B SST does not double power as speaker impedance is halved. Caught me by surprise because I was certain the 4B SST doubled power.

When used with speakers that have a significant impedance curve, i.e. low impedance in the bass regions relative to higher impedances in the treble regions, the result is less volume produced in the bass frequencies relative to the high frequencies. What one hears, then, is a "tipped up" or "bright" sound because the highs are louder than the bass.

However, this effect can be ameliorated by using a speaker with a flat impedance curve.
Gary,

It is fine - it will warm up fairly quickly. I never leave mine on except when in use and it generate loads of heat when I use it. The only thing I leave on permanently is my DAC1 and that is because there is no switch - LOL!
Don't worry about turning on and off a Bryston amp. Bryston's are built like a brick and also sound great after only a few minutes of warm up. I have had mine for three years and never leave it on when not listening to music. I don't think you can go wrong with the 4bsst.
