Feikert Woodpecker This is a really nice looking table for certain. Would be interesting to see more info.
VPI Classic - Now you have one...... Oh I guess I've worded that reply wrong. I have't ordered any of the arms yet as I'm having to save up to purchase one. I just installed a Jelco 10.5" arm in the interim and so far it's pretty impressive for the money.I don't have any finalised pr...
VPI Classic Platter I just upgraded my TNT to the classic platter over the acrylic and really like the sound personally. I'm going to listen for a bit then switch back, but what I've found so far is a slightly livelier sound as opposed to the acrylics somewhat "thick...
VPI Classic - Now you have one...... Thought I'd chime in here. In a few conversations with Mike at VPI, the 10.5 arm on the Classic is a little longer than the 10.5i with VTA model. According to Mike those looking to use the 10.5I base w/vta should request the Classic tonearm wand. ...
Where to go from a Shelter 901 Mk1. I've heard from sources that going from a 10.5" to a 12" tonearm offers little difference in sound quality. I think the cartridge choice would be of better value, however check the mass of that tonearm. I have one comming and I know it's quite hea...
Air Bladders On my TNT I use raquet balls supported by some "cupped" shaped ABS plumbing pipe. It works very well and the balls don't loose air. Your support must be level though.
Tom Evans Groove X, Aesthetix Rhea or JLTI Have you seen the Allnic products? They look mighty fine as an alternative to what your looking at.That said, I just heard the Rhea signature and it was excellent. Koetsu cartridge, dead quiet...
The pivoted arm experiment is over I just sold my ET2 for my fully decked out TNT6 with rim drive....sniff sniff. I haven't even bought a replacement for it yet but now I'm starting to regret! I totally agree with linear tracking vs pivoted when it comes to tracking error and disto...
Is 8.7hz too low for tonearm/cart resonance? Good point Raul, I am usually sitting however I have others in the house that walk around and this can cause "skipping" if walking near the table. I think this is more a matter of support though and not one of resonanace.I'm in the middle of chang...
Ortofon RS-309D opinions I have also wondered about the relationship between the Ortofon arms and the Jelco's. Can the bearings be that different really? Are these arms essentially a unipivot?David12, I find it interesting that the Raven/Jelco outperformed the Origin Live...
Sold my ET2....now what? Thanks Dave, that was pretty insightfull! Unfortunately I hope my wife doesn't read this because if there is one thing she couldn't stand and that was inner groove distortion! I told her that arms were better now and it wouldn't pose a problem. I ...
Sold my ET2....now what? Oh the arm is gone already, I'm just looking for its replacement. With so many geometries and design principles it can become overwhelming.Something about the simplicity of a Rega always appeals to me though.Schipo, as good a deal as I can get on ...
Any body has listened to TW Acustic Raven 0.5? Even better than the VPI Classic??? I dunno...
Does 21g seem high for effective tonearm mass? Mofimadness, you read it right 21Grams, and you should see some of the weights for the Ortofon arms! Now that said I did do some calculating and it will work with my Sumiko, but I'm having a change of heart and leaning towards the VPI 10.5i or a us...
Does 21g seem high for effective tonearm mass? Well I did some looking around and it appears that the headshell is already 12grams and is about the lowest I could find.I'm gonna post another thread on my tonearm seach. Thanks fellows! |
