Any Caviar Fans Here?
I'm a big fan of uni (sea urchin) roe. I do like caviar though. Not enough to make a special purchase, but, I've eaten and enjoyed different types many times.
guitar solos where less is more
David Gilmour's solo from "Hey You" off The Wall is my favorite. It's short but extremely emotional and poignant to the song. It's not just added there for ego reasons.
ever been duped ordering "new" CDs on Amazon?
I don't give a rusty fart what someone says, I buy CDs. I average 1.5-2 a week. The majority are from Amazon marketplace. On the rare occasion I've had an issue I've gotten a refund. My biggest gripe is when I buy multiple CDs from the same seller...
Any word from anyone on AudiogoN about the new Rega Apollo R CDP?
@richardfinegoldIt's kind of ironic that the previous Apollo was more fussy about playing discs while the Apollo is supposed to buffer the music. Which begs the question on how well the Apollo or Apollo R are as a transport? I was discussing DACs ...
What more possibly could they offer consumers?
"Everything that can be invented has been invented." -Charles H. Duell 1899Even if that quote is an urban legend, you understand the point. The answer to you question is simply, much much more than you can possibly imagine.
Any word from anyone on AudiogoN about the new Rega Apollo R CDP?
I'll tell you what, if the Apollo R had an asynchronous USB input using it's new DAC it would be a slam dunk. I could have the best of both worlds and not have to worry about a decision.
Any word from anyone on AudiogoN about the new Rega Apollo R CDP?
@ richardfinegold. What else about the previous model of the Apollo didn't you care for?I've owned and listened to several players and when I look at the convenience of a music server coupled with the nice performance from my DAC, I've been please...
Any word from anyone on AudiogoN about the new Rega Apollo R CDP?
Thanks Taylor. I suppose I'm trying to figure out if the new Apollo R could be a worthy alternative to my music server and external Cary Xciter DAC? Which competes very well against other Redbook players under about $1500. I'll wait until I hear m...
Any word from anyone on AudiogoN about the new Rega Apollo R CDP?
Thanks! It will be interesting. If it's an improvement over the previous Apollo, will that mean it will cannibalize the Saturn sales? Is it worth waiting for the new Apollo R to ship or pick up a good deal on the remaining Apollos?
Best Live Album Ever...
My new favorite live album is Pink Floyd's 1974 live performance of Dark Side. The live CD comes with the Experience and Immersion Editions from the 2011 remaster. The sound quality and performance is excellent. If you're a Pink Floyd fan this is ...
Best single-malt Scotch...
@ kennyt. I went out to try and find Macallan 15 or 18 within reasonable driving distance and could only find 10 or 12. I ended up with the 12. I called around and the prices I did find were getting steep. $51 for the 12. $80 for the 15. $145 for ...
Best single-malt Scotch...
@loydelee21 I'm not sure where you are and based on some of the research I've done the price of the Macallan 30 has risen here in the US from about $375 a bottle in 2007 to over $900 (closer to $1000) today. That's pretty steep. At those prices th...
Best single-malt Scotch...
I have no doubt Macallan 30 is terrific. At $1000 a bottle versus $80 a bottle for the Macallan 18 and $600 for the Macallan 25, I'm not exactly sure it's alternative.
TT suggestion in the $7 - 10K range?
How would the VPI Classic 3 compare to the Sota or any of the others mentioned?
Best single-malt Scotch...
@Lloydelee21. I will give it a try my next time. Bottles tend to last me quite a while. Maybe I'll try it with my Cubano Romeo y Julieta when I have a rare time to relax. (I smoke outside so my equipment remains smoke free)
