Technics 1200G Tweaks
Mine is a GAE rather than a G, which should matter not, but in the interests of full disclosure there you have it.  I agree with the advice that the most significant impact will result from cartridge choice.  I use an Ortofon Per Windfeld (origina...
Bobs Device SKY 20 or A23 (Denon) SUT for my Charisma 103 cart
You must live in a parallel universe to mine.  Listening to anything analog be it cartridges, turntables, arms, interconnects, SUTs, you name it is just damn near impossible these days.
Technics 1200G - clamp record weight or no record weight?
I have a GAE and a Prime and use an LP1, a VPI and a KAB from time to time, but also use nothing a lot of times.  Can't say it makes a huge difference if the records if flat.  If the record is warped then one of the above will sound better than th...
LP Cleaning Machine surprise
If you listen to vinyl you really need a record cleaning machine.  There is no substitute and they make a big difference.  I have owned and regularly use a VPI for over 30 years.  But have used others as well with good results.
Outer ring - who uses and what are your findings
Schenk,I would like to read your paper.  Please send it.  Of course there is more to a periphery ring and clamp, or vacuum system as well, than just flattening out a warped record.  Records vibrate a bit as the stylus travels through the grooves, ...
Outer ring - who uses and what are your findings
Another happy VPI Prime user with Stillpoints LP1 and Periphery ring.  I also have a VPI weight that came with the Prime, and on a VPI HW19 MKIII a older VPI Clamp.  The setup on my Prime, works the best, but they all work.
Any real sonic improvement using 2 or 3 belts on VPI tables?
I have a VPI Prime, use an Eagle/Roadrunner, currently use 3 belts with an HRX pulley, which as already explained is a necessity.  I found an incremental improvement with 2 belts, but adding the 3rd belt did not make any noticeable change.
Rebuilt A90 or new Windfield Ti?
It is very tough to call this race when we can't hear the two side by each.  You might visit the VPI website, go to the forum and ask Harry.  He has probably listened to both.
Rebuilt A90 or new Windfield Ti?
I picked the old Per Windfeld over the A95, but it had to do with my room  and the type of music I prefer. The A95 has a more forward projection, a wider sound stage and is generally a more assertive sounding cartridge in consequence.  The Windfel...
SL1200GAE New Tonearm
Raul,What arm wire have you tried that worked well?  The Windfeld is a very nice cartridge isn't it?Bill
SL1200GAE New Tonearm
I agree that the stock arm on the GAE is outstanding.  I have not compared it with a Triplanar, but have an SME on another TT, and a VPI 3D w/dual pivot on another and compared to them it is easier to set up and sounds as good as or better than th...
Looking for the best moving coil cart that is around $5K used
The above post written by itsjustme is spot on.  I have a real world example that illustrates his point.  The turntable involved in this anecdote is a VPI Prime and when I first bought it, I was having trouble dialing it in.  Part of the problem w...
From Cadenza Black to A95...
Great review, I read with particular interest because of my somewhat similar experience.  I have a Prime:  Periphery ring, Eagle/Roadrunner, 2 arms, Dual pivot kits, Counter Intuitive, triple belts.  I also have a Cadenza Black and also wasn't loo...
Is a SUT needed?
Raul, the single most important aspect of any evaluation of audio equipment in the end must be how the music sounds.  And you consistently neglect to address in your discussions the element of taste.  It is OK to have your preferences, I fully res...
Is a SUT needed?
There is no substitute for trying one or more in your own system to hear the effect.  Bob of bobsdevices.com sent one of his SKY10 SUTs to me and Wow!  Huge improvement.  My phono stage is cj TEA2MAX, 55 db, using an Ortofon Winfeld with 0.2mV out...
