turntable with detachable headshell Thanks; I did read a review, which was good. I wonder if other audiogon members see this as a quality audiophile TT?
cartridge demagnetization Thanks for all the input; Czbbcl: I did watch that video on UTube. Does anyone not agree that method is safe and effective?
Best Cartridge for technics sl1200mk2 A slight correction: The Shure V15III never had a brush, only [in the V15 series] the V15IV and V]. I presume the 1812 version is the notorius Telarc, right,M-db?
Phono Preamp and Cartridge selection However, the list price for the Ortofon Cadenza black is almost $2000 more than the 2m black! [not $250!]
The Arm/Cartridge Matching Myth I agree with a lot of what Halcro has to say, and I've also tried many tonearm/cartridge combinations and haven't heard horrible results even when the compliance/ resonance formulas were way off. However, I still have copies of Stereo Review magaz...
Rega Aria Phonostage Vs Aqvox 2CI Mk 2 Only the Rega Aria with an RP8on the MC side, and misc. MM's on the MM side; I like this combo because you can have 2 TT's plugged in at the same time.
Miracord 50H Turntable I also previously posted a thread on this topic about idler drive turntables and mentioned the Miracord 50H,one of which I purchased in 1971, using it not as a changer but in single play mode. I challenge the fact that it was a lower end product. ...
Rekokut Rondine 3 vs. Merill AR es1 replica Lewm: your point is well taken. I do not own either of said turntables, and it seems no one really is familiar with them; therefore, in a decision to purchase a turntable which allows easy cartridge exchange, I thought of the Technics SL 1200II, w...
Rekokut Rondine 3 vs. Merill AR es1 replica Dear Maxh: Nope, I don't need 78rpm; just easy cartridge exchange so as to utilize the many phonocarts I have which have never been used. The above 2 models are equiped with Jelco 250 TAs.....Of course, there is always the Technics SL 1200 which i...
Technics headshell weight/ Audio Technica 440mla c Hi, Fleib; your expertise is greatly appreciated; much of your advice has already been implemented, and much of it will be in the future. You have answered and resolved many mysteries I have had over the years, for which I am grateful! To have acc...
Technics headshell weight/ Audio Technica 440mla c Hello Fleib: I got data from Ortofon that their 110 tonearm weighs 3.5 gms. without headshell. I assumed you could simply add the headshell weight to that value to get the tonearm Effective Mass, from which you could figure resonance, etc. How doe...
Technics headshell weight/ Audio Technica 440mla c Thanks Fleib; I've looked at your contibutions and I am impressed by your knowledge in this area. I note the Technics 1200 arm has an effective mass of 12 g. as does the SME 3009 II, non improved. Does this mean that by simple subtraction both arm...
Most compatible phono pre for Lyra Delos I've had a Rega P3, P5, RP6 and RP8, and phonopreamps from Project, Bellari, PS Audio, Music Fidelity, and finally a Rega Aria, which gets my vote. Plus, you can hook up two turntables at the same time, one MM, and the other MC.
Rega RP8 cartridge? At this point, Lyta cartridges are clear winners. Any other sub $2000 contenders [MC].
technics SL 1300 modificatiom Interesting option; Vegasears; any ideas about specific headshells? |
