The "most foolish" loudspeaker tweak/upgrade ... is
The audiophile who thinks spending $XXX makes them an audiophile, is equally foolish.

@williewonka In this example, you wouldn’t use a music track to testing purposes. You’d use 20-20KHz white noise. Essentially, you’d have to. Every recording is going to carry some sort of "signature" or coloration, if you will. That is you’re goi...

"reasons" might include validation (of owning the best), fear (of not owning the best), affirmation (of belonging to the exclusive club), and the afterglow (bias confirmation). @mitch2 Interestingly enough, all of which are self imposed.
Surround Processor / Pre Amp / 3D Sound Field
Everyone...check out the link to below to help get a rough understanding ambisonic or multi-axis surround sound, if you will, and how it would correlate with what we know to be surround sound. There are some similarities but many differences and i...
Surround Processor / Pre Amp / 3D Sound Field
I see where the disconnect may be...EU/UK are years ahead of the US market. You're essentially speaking of a variation of an ambisonic-style system that literally includes 3/4 axis playback. I completely agree. No US recordings, music or movie, ex...
Surround Processor / Pre Amp / 3D Sound Field
@audioman2015 I doubt any information was lost during the mastering process. Understand everything relies on the sound field algorithms the manufacture programmed for the processor. Check out Cambridge Audio. I can vouch they are my second choice ...

@bo1972 So where can one find more information about Statement Audio Pro measuring and related software...I presume? While I appreciate your response, it’s lacking in content. I get it "I owned Meridian...it’s not good enough...born looser..." Got...
Surround Processor / Pre Amp / 3D Sound Field
OP: forgive me if this seems like a thread hijack, but my question will likely shed some light into your search. @bo1972 If you were to create a Meridian based system, what would it include? I'm partial to Meridian for a reason. They're been "get...

@clearthink Having not spoken to Burwen directly, I would...assume...his thought process was beyond the point of system building. We know to select equipment with ultra-low harmonic distortion (in theory). I agree with your point regarding speed e...

I'm beginning to like this place again. I might have to stick around...until I get bored with the rhetoric...then I'll leave again.

@russmaleartist your logic, rational, and fact-based reasoning will get you no where. You were completely dismissed...with you lack of subjectively anti-objective subjectiveness...not because you're objective but you only have 12 posts...which lac...

High level, its one in the same. Coloration is a deviation from a desired response. Equalization "corrects" it, or brings the frequency back to the desired response. Yes, it has its complexities and intentionally oversimplifying it,  but it ultima...

@williewonka your response seems fitting...At its simplest, the frequency response is MEASURED output. Unless you’re willing to MEASURE and quantify your findings as fact, everything use is mute. Sine-waves are essentially frequency shapes.Differe...
Where to put budget
Bang for buck would be room treatment.  You have good equipment already so adding gems for the rear would be marginal. Not to mention you plan on expanding the room to dimensions that would be better conducive for a 7.2 setup. Additionally, you co...

@alpha_gt So what of the $39k price tag for cables?
