High resolution digital is dead. The best DAC's killed it.
I'll be going to the Montreal Audio Show in March. I'll let my ears confirm.

Kuzma/Koetsu feedbak??
My Koetsu Black is around 25 years old. Re-tipped long ago by Van Den Hull. It was paired with the Zeta tonearm. Fabulous combination, but old.I had the Kuzma 4Point (12"), now have the Kuzma 4Point 14". Greatest tonearm I've ever owned. The Black ...
Electrostatic Speakers
Love this thread.Get in touch with Kent. Get them rebuilt. Listen to music. Relax. Your lawyer will cost more than the rebuild.
Stranded vs Solid Copper
Your decision on solid core is good. If you ever wanted to go stranded, Litz 9.5 awg from partsconnexion would also work great. You do need a soldering pot to prep the ends. Each individual wire has a coating. It must be removed. If your going to b...
For those of us over 60..
Agree with every post above. We truly are the lucky generation.Being Canadian, we really took to Supertramp. Listened to Crime of the Century, for the 4000th time.
Tube pre-amps: balanced a big deal?
I try to keep things simple;A phono cartridge is a true balanced source. The sinusoidal waveform goes up, and then it goes down. A dual differential phono pre amp, pre amp combination preserves the entire waveform. An asymmetrical (rca) pre amp re...
Torus power vs the competition
For those of us that use balanced conditioners, there's no turning back.I have a Torus RM20. It gives me a constant 120V. This than feeds my 'balanced' toriods. One BPT, two very old 2KV plitron medical transformers. I've wired the plitrons to giv...
The new Synergistic Research BLUE fuses ....
Just installed the Blues in my Atma-Sphere MP-1 mk111.3 pre-amp. There is now no noise floor. It's gone.I did put them in backwards (not my fault). As low as the noise floor was, the base (bass) diminished slightly. I just switched them around, an...

michaela, just installed the new bearing from sien (sph) at LencoHeaven. Truly unbelievable. My noise floor dropped to a vanishingly low level. I also installed the Synergistic Research Blue fuses, and now I have no noise floor, it's gone.

Need passive aggressive advice
emil,You've done your homework. LDR's are the next step in the passive evolution. Caution, the placette is so good, there will only be an incremental improvement. But it will still be an improvement.Having owned a Placette, we know there's no goin...
Reducing Background Noise On Records
How many of us have left these pages?Reading these responses has left me scratching my head.Azimuth adjustment is the most important of all the cartridge tweaks. Until your azimuth is perfect, everything else is meaningless.cspiegs, start reading ...

the table or the arm first?
The more expensive the arm, the better it sounds. But why?If we look at Rega arms, the big difference is in the bearings. They test hundreds of bearings. One out of a hundred is perfect. This goes into their expensive arms.
