Audiophile Quality 2 Channel DVD Audio?
I agree with Johnss - both SACD and DVD-A offer a dramatic improvement over Redbook CD. I think it depends a lot on your system though. For me, since installing Theta Enterprises, the difference is just huge. And FWIW, I find Multi-channel not wor...
MC402 vs FPB 300cx
As I mentioned above, with below 2ohm dips, my speakers at the time were very current demanding. The Mac had absolutely no problem at all handling this.Neither did the Krell for that matter.
Aerial SW12 or JL Audio F113 music/surround sub
Be careful re placement. Against convential wisdom, I do not like corner placement of subs.I agree - corner placement seemed to get me more/louder bass, but at the price of clean, well defined bass...just my experience.
Legacy Focus 20/20 Speaker amp
Ozzy...that was my experience. Sthomas12321, it is interesting that the actual listening level wasn't out of line when I had the 40w tubes. That is, I didn't have to turn it way up just to hear it as the low wattage would imply. I do have some bas...
Preamps w/ best transparency/top end, no brightnes
A real sleeper is the Gill Audio Alana. You might have to wait for one though.
Have you tried SILCLEAR from Mapleshade?
Be careful with this silver paste. I use silclear and it can get (has gotten) everywhere and it does not come off easily. If overused, it can cause some big problems. On the other hand, if someone is messing with your gear, put a little dab of this...
Poll - Active vs. Passive preamp
I've tried various active pres and some TVC based passive units (the Bent TAP and a Bent Silver NOH). I agree with Ngjockey - John Chapman is one of the best people I have ever had the pleasure to do business with. He defines integrity, and is sym...
Region unlock for Lexicon RT-10
Try contacting Bas at JVB Digital in Michigan USA. They do region-free conversions and would know how to sort you out. You might have to send it to him though.
Is there a "universal" problem playing Dual Discs?
My Esoteric DV-50 played them fine [same transport as the UDP-1 I believe], but the Denon 5910 does not play them...which might be true accross the board for the Denon players.
The Room
Amen to the room!Rives is a proven name in this end of the business with a good track record. Additionally, a regular valuable voice here in the forum and a contributor to AudiogoN.Another very good resource is Terry Montlick [www.softwaredesign.c...
Review: Bent Audio Tap Linestage
Perhaps the new amp delivers more current for the same power???Oddly, I once went from 1200w/ch to 350w/ch with no real difference in volume level, but a great improvement in sound quality with the 350w amp.
The original first Hydra with Elrod statement
BTW - What is the difference between the Elrod Signature 2 and the Elrod Signature 3?I keep looking but never find an answer.John - surely you know this one.
Info for Legacy Steradian/First Step users
I have learned quite a bit about the Whisper Processor that I have posted in Fplanner2000's old thread from when he had his balanced input issue. Feel free to email me and I’ll help in any way I can…if I can.First off, anything that has more than ...
Review: Bent Audio Tap Linestage
FWIW - I had the chance to demo a TAP and it worked great with My Krell FPB-300C [26dB gain/100kOhm/2.71Vrms input specs] and my Legacy Whispers [95dB @ 2.83 v/m]. Now the Whispers do come with a speaker processor of which I don't know the in/out ...
MC402 vs FPB 300cx
I would also suggest looking into the Cable Company's demo library. You pay in very little (5%) but get to try all kinds of stuff (PCs, ICs, and speaker cables). They also have a database of experience from other users and their specific gear that...
