Seeking advice on several specific MC Step Up Transformers
"JC designed Halo JC3+ is way way better that a MM + SUT"I would disagree with this from my experience, but some prefer phono stages with op amps.
How often do you have to service your Studer or Otari deck ? Home not pro environment.
I had my Otari MX55N serviced some 4+ years ago and biased for current tape formulations.  Still going strong and measures fine.  It is in an audio (non-pro environment).
SS preamps with two XLR inputs and at least four outputs [two of them XLR]
Rowland Corus.

Threshold verse Pass Labs how can I justify significant price difference
If you want to hear a significant difference, I would forgo the X series class AB amps and go for the XA series class A amps.  And use them for the HF/MF in the bi-amp configuration.
OPINIONS PLEASE - Phonostage for new Rega P8/Apheta 2 - Sutherland 20/20 or Allnic 1201
If it were me, I would confirm that the Duo does not use op amps.  But, ultimately, if you are happy, then that is all that counts.  Enjoy!

Yes that is true (about added cost with an SUT and interconnects). Another potential issue is the risk of hum due to the additional component and interconnects needed.  One plus with VTPH2A is it employs Star grounding.

Call Keith Herron to see if he has any on trade. Great guy to deal with. The VTPH2A is a fantastic unit. Very lively and organic in my setup. FWIW, for my Dynavector XX2, I do notice a difference (some would say an improvement) between using an SUT...

I would opt for the phono pre that does not use op-amps.
Dynavector cartridges, old and new
I just ordered a Dynavector Te Kaitora Rua and curious about retip options for the future. DV does retip and refurb carts above the XX2 line.
Bobs Device SKY 20 or A23 (Denon) SUT for my Charisma 103 cart
I would try to listen to as many SUTs as you can - at shops or via trial periods.  SUTs are very personal preferences IMHO.  Also make sure your SUT is actually 10x, 15x, 20x, etc.  Sometimes they are not. I had to return a Sky30 because of it.  U...
Spend my $1000 on a turntable
VPI used to make a red plinth Scout as well as Traveler. Perhaps you can find a used one.
Lehmannaudio Black Cube SE II
Concur.  The DIP switch settings in the manual are hard to decipher.
Elapsed Time Counter for Tracking Stylus Life
If you can find one, the last version of the Phoenix Roadrunner had an accumulated playing time counter based on the revolutions of the platter.
Aleph 4, or else? (good general purpose class A amp)
You should be ok with most speakers. However, to get the most optimum use of the Aleph amps, I recommend ensuring that your speakers have a nominal impedance of not less than 4 ohms. I'm currently using the Aleph 2 and they sound wonderful.
