Opinions Please: Daily proliferation, several dealer/distributor ads,..
I agree.  If you are a small-time seller, your ad usually needs to be seen (and sold) within the first 72 hours or so otherwise, because of Audiogon FIFO listing system, it just gets buried under the barrage of dealer ads and the number views drop...
Squeezebox user with duplicate albums
I'm using Logitech Media Center for my my Squeezebox devices as well, and I've had good luck getting the titles and artist tags to be correct and uniform using TagScanner which is free, very complete, and easy to use. You may also check at or fiel...
Is DEQX a game changer?
Using your DEQX as your DAC works very well and is highly recommended. Al, I would bet that with a little more configuration tweaking you will be able to get even better results than you have now. Ultimately, you many need to take a few more speak...
Is DEQX a game changer?
For those thinking about measuring outside, for practical reasons I don't do it. The last DEQX calibration that I was involved was with a pair Apogee Full Range and at 300 pounds each they ain't going anywhere! Measuring outside lengthens the time...
Tom Petty "Hypnotic Eye"
I haven't heard the vinyl yet, but every darn song on the HE CD sounds great to me, and I've listened to it a number of times now. Listening to it here in Tallahassee, I find it to have a convincing soundstage and presence, and overall I just find...
FYI: VPI HW-19 motors
Try as set of four Herbie's Big Tall Extra-Firm Tenderfeet to replace the suspension. The are the best that I've found for my HW-19 MkIV (TNT platter). The Herbie's Tenderfeet were a noticeable improvement over both the original springs and the VP...
Is DEQX a game changer?
I've been a DEQX owner since 2012 and I'm now on my second DEQX (HDP Express II) and I completely agree with Drewan77. The DEQX is truly a unique product. For me it was a total game changer coming from a very good analog electronic crossover, but ...
B&K 7250 won't turn on
We don't know, will it turn on without having anything hooked up to it? If it does, the first thing that you should do is check for significant DC voltage across each pair of speaker terminals. Less DC, or closer to zero is better, but idealy it s...
RIP Panny Plasmas
Yep Dbphd, you are right! According to the specs, my Pioneer PDP-6070 60" plasma display uses 455 watts and I can attest that it can warm a room like a powered-up Jeff Rowland Model 5 power amp. But as good as the image is on this plasma display, ...
Caps for threshold sl-10
The old Instrument Device electrolytic caps used in the SL-10 are marked on the positive side. When in doubt, you can always take a digital volt-meter and check which side is more positive or negative. Since my memory can be short, when I do a re-...
jeff rowland model 6 capacitors
That's odd. All the EPCOS large aluminum caps that I've bought from DigiKey of this part number are tagged Country of Origin: Germany. I wish that I could still find the larger size Cornell Dubilier or United Chemicon caps, but many of these sizes...
Lightning
Short of installing lightning arrestor system to keep lightning from hitting your house in the first place, nothing will protect your electronics from a direct lightning hit to your house or the service entrance; however, a few basic precautions w...
jeff rowland model 6 capacitors
I'm not sure exactly which main filter-caps the Model 6 uses, but I've had a set of four Nichicon LNT1K333MSE (33,000uf 80v 3" diameter) for my JRDG Model 3 mono-blocks on-order with DigiKey for almost a year now. Still waiting. But on the other ha...
How do you organize your LPs?
I generally arrange my LPs in "record store" alphabetical order and separating out a few specialty genres as well as titles for easy access. I also separate out specialty pressings such as direct-to-disk, half-speed mastered, and the like by recor...
Vintage MIT MI-330
I see that I'm late to the table by about a year, but stumbling upon this thread, I find all this information to be very interesting and quite useful. I've used the original MIT MI-330 interconnects for many years with all the arrows pointing the ...
