A very good ENGINEERING explanation of why analog can not be as good as digital..
why is it always about what sounds better, both have their merits both can engage the listener. For those that have no vinyl then yeah digital makes more sense but for those of us who have collected vinyl records for decades then vinyl makes sense...
How to pre clean a very dirty LP before Ultrasound Machine?
why are you worried, that’s what a sonic cleaner is for. spin clean is not saving you anything, you’re going to use the same amount of distilled water cleaner and more time. I’ve putt some very dirty industrial parts in sonic cleaners, crusted wit...
Looking for an Integrated Amplifier to match Totem Rainmaker Speakers
I think your making a mistake not looking at spending more for used. I find people seem to think it takes rocket science to repair audio equipment. its not hard for a competent tech to fix just about any manufacturers equipment if they can still g...
Audiogon member suggestions for a speaker that sounds good at low volume!!!
+ jmolsberg omega speakers sound wonderful at lower levels, I  recommend the High Out Put versions though for more complex music though and the regular ones for jazz and the like.  wonderful speakers for the money, huge sound scape (I use sound sc...
I want to pick up a vintage SS integrated
+ mental As someone said Sansui did use glue on the boards but I think he has over stated the issues. Sansui integrated's are going up fast in the vintage market for a reason if you can get one like the 717 i'd jump on it they are only going up in...
Affordable integrated pure class A?
Luxman has made very nice class A amps for decades, Accuphase, Sungden, Pass labs, all these can be had used in your price range if you  look and have time. Luxman L540-550-560 are Pure class A amps from the early 80's that are wonderful and can b...

low mass tone arm suggestion sub $1k used
Thanks everyone for the great suggestions. time to start looking into them. I’ve thought about the new Jelco (They do look nice and here in Canada almost $3k) but its still too heavy for the MC 10 or simular, i’ve actually tried the cart on my 750...
low mass tone arm suggestion sub $1k used
Yes for high compliance carts. Yeah the magnepan arm's are going for over $3k now according to HighFiShark. If i'm going to spend that much I'll replace the Jelco first. But looks like a nice arm. someone else mentions the grace 707 as a possible ...
Is there a better DAC than the Schiit Bifrost for $300?
another good budget audio company is IFI Audio. They have a few DAC's and they aso get great reviews. I've owned one of their IFI Iphono2 phono stages that at $500 was punching well above its price point. Highly recommend IFI products.
Pre-Amp vs. Integrated...why?
Just to clarify you understand what the phono preamp is doing right?  its main job is to decode the RIAA curve and to amplify the very small signal from the cart so your preamp can use it. (preamp regardless if integrated or not). The decoding is ...
Delos bottoming out anybody else experience this?
One other thing to check is the compliance of the cart and tone arm. if your arm is too heavy for the cart this can happen as well.
Cimpliance Vs Cartridge loading
The denon 103 needs much more then 100ohms. the spec sheet say more then 100ohms not 100ohms. Note also the spec's  from Denon were taken at 1000ohms FYI. I also have a Denon 103 on my second arm and I find 470 ohms to 1k ohm to be ideal. Mind you...
A problem with AC Power you may not have considered.
thanks as well excellent read
Thoughts on VTA......
I used to do it by ear then I got a micro meter on the fly mod for my12" Jelco and well now I wonder how I managed with out. makes it much easier and faster IMO, same results in the end. as for changing for thickness I really can’t tell the differ...
