You should audition the Merlin TSM's. Fabulous sound, all that you are seeking, and compact. I have had many speakers of all shapes and sizes and Merlin's are a keeper for me.Happy Listening!
Cables & Merlin TSM-XMr
I have the Merlin TSM-mme's. I have tried the following speaker cables. Cardas Quadlink, Audience AU24, Kimber 8TC, Supra Ply 3.4, Supra Rondo. The best sound is with the Supra cables. Supra PLY 3.4 in stereo with the jumpers from Merlin is very n...
Oppo BDP-83SE or Sony SCD-XA5400ES?
If you just want Stereo SACD/CD playback it is very hard to go wrong with the Sony. If you will want video as well, the OPPO gets the nod.
Sorry, a question about the Sony SCDXA5400ES.
I have the Sony 5400ES. I also own a McIntosh player and have owned the Ayre and Arcam players as well. I can tell you the Sony is easily the best of the bunch. I'm talking about significant improvements in sound quality and function over the othe...
Burn-in info for Sony XA5400ES
I ran the Ayre burn in CD continuously for a full day and it made a slight difference. The Sony sounded superb right out of the box by the way.
Has anyone had eperience with the new sony xa5400e
I love the Sony 5400 es. I have compared it to many much more expensive players such as the Ayre, McIntosh, Arcam, all of which were good and had many strengths. However, my vote goes for the Sony for overall sound quality, ease of use and functio...

Very interesting radio shack vs. audioquest
I was using Supra cables which are very reasonable cost. I was captivated by all the rave reviews and noise being made about Audience AU24 cables. I just had to have a pair to run with the "Real Audiophiles". I forked out a lot of money for the sp...
Best Blu-ray/DVD player for under $800?
Dear Sakahara,I bought the Pioneer BDP-05 Elite player. I made this purchase due to owning an Elite Plasma & Receiver. The picture is stunning on Blu-Ray, and sound on CD is excellent. However, loading of BluRay DVD's takes F O R E V E R. I di...
Bookshelf speakers with the good bass.
I previously owned Dynaudio Special 25's. Their bass belies their size and appearance. However they are rear ported and perform best on stands and away from the wall. I now use Merlin TSM-mme speakers. These also have wonderful bass performance an...
How does the Cambridge Azur 840C sound compared
Another vote for the Sony. Without a doubt the best SACD player I have owned or heard.
Rega Saturn or Sony SCD-XA5400ES ?
The Sony is my choice. I have had the top players from McIntosh, Ayre, Arcam and played them side by side against the Sony. On SACD the Sony was my choice every time. The Ayre player was redbook only, and on Redbook I still liked the Sony better.F...
McIntosh C220 VS C2300 AB comparison
I have owned all 3, and presently have the C2300. The phono section alone in the C2300 is worth the difference. I can tell you that the C2300 is the better performing amp in both sound and function.I really liked my C2200, and on line level signal...
All time favorite speaker cables
Another vote for Supra
Vandersteen 2C vs. Klipsch Cornwall
If you want loud, bass power, and little regard for choice of amp, the Cornwall fits the bill nicely. It will come with plenty of box coloration too.If you want tonal accuracy, coherent music, natural and accurate reproduction and no box coloratio...
