Why so expensive??
Because someone, somewhere, is willing to pay.
A question for technically astute
Hmmmm.Could it be the step transformer is feeding the amp a very clean, very constant 110? In other words, it is, by default, acting as a (seemingly successful) power line conditioner?
Whose got best class D at this point?
Whose got the best? Good luck in getting any sort of definiteanswer. I am a believer in the Class D, T, Ice, Nuforce, etc. technology. I don't know who has the best or which technology is superior. I have an Audiosource Amp 7T I got off E-bay for a...
I've Fallen in Love With My Mistress
My dvd is connected to my 2 channel system. Does that make me faithful?
Which Solid State Amplifier is Making you Happy?
Class D,T,Ice; power switching amps. Back in 05 I stated the Son of Ampzilla was my favorite. Fast forward to 07, I now have a Class T (Audiosource) 200w/8ohms. It is a better amp, period. Just listen to one, see what you think.
Power: Good or Bad
Double the power for 3db, if I am not mistaken. You have to ask yourself, how loud is loud enough? 90db for 1 watt, 2 watts for 93, 4 for 96, 8 for 99, 16 for 102, 32 for 105, etc. The efficiency of the speakers, size of listening area, and need f...
it all sounds good, but.....
Scott Nixon DAC through a tube pre-amp or a Tube Dac will warm up the CD sound. Being old enough to remember when CD didn't exist, I also remember what a pain in the rear vinyl was.
Tube Amp Hum
I know this sounds left field, but try different cables from your pre to power amp. I have a tube pre and ss power. I bought some high end cables and they produced a buzz. Replacements were tried with the same result. Put in old generic cheapos an...
Anyone else evolve beyond tubes?
A tube pre with a ss power amp is, to my ears, the best combination. The pre-tubes are resonable in price, the ss delivers the clean highs and the tight lows. I believe this to be especially true with CD(vs. vinyl).
Anyone talked to Dean from PSE?
It's not right for any vendor of anything to provide the service that apparently this man has been doing. There is no excuse, ever, for bad service. If you cann't support your products, do not go into business in the first place. There are way too...
$1k, new, power amp, 100w or less, what do you say
Thanks for the information everyone. Happy listening.
$1k, new, power amp, 100w or less, what do you say
My speakers are rated at 89db/one watt. Is there a brand new power amp for $1k worth having?
Who deals Sugden?
Thanks for the info. This is why I always go to Audiogon first for all of my audio questions.
Clever Little Clock - high-end audio insanity?
Yes. What more is there to say?
Will power conditioning really help?
Tarsando. Thank you for your respectful response. There are far too many immature exchanges on the internet. Daimbert, please look into an inexpensive power conditioner line, Tripplite. You won't be able to brag to your audio friends and some may ...
