Bi-Wiring Center as a left and right
If the speaker supports biwiring, it will send one input to the woofer and the other to the mid/tweeter.  If you wire each to a different channel, you will get lows from one and mid/highs from the other.  Not a good idea.

Newbie Question on Selecting USB Output
Yes, you need to select the USB-DAC as your output. The PC will recognize the device but will not choose it automatically. Undoubtedly, there will be instructions included with the DAC.

Good point, Zavato. However, one advantage that reviewers have, aside from long experience, is the facility to compare speakers (or anything else) under the same and, hopefully, optimized conditions.

I cannot comment on headphones but the sound of any speaker is almost totally dependent on the room's acoustics and the speaker and listener positioning within the room. It is hard to make definitive differentiations between different speakers in ... 
MAC Mini video via HDMI & audio via USB?
I've never used it with YouTube but I have done this with JRiver. Just send the audio to the USB in audio setup and in midi setup. The HDMI will take care of itself.
