Cayin A-70t tube rolling ...EL34 Tubes?...
Thanks. I just spoke with Steve and let me first say is is a SUPER nice guy and was very willing to help. Essentially the bias settings are .30-.40, BUT you need to turn them all the way down before powering up with the new tubes.Cheers!
Monitor speaker that will stop the Quest?
After I posted my response. I gave it some more thought and since Nyctc7 mentioned the Krells I will mention a speaker that I though about yesterday. It's the speaker I think would end the quest if you were on a budget. It's the Polk LSi9. Uses th...
Monitor speaker that will stop the Quest?

Which DAC?
I have owned many of the DACs under $1000. The V-Dac for the price is the one to get. It lacks a bit of detail compared to a Stello or Benchmark, but is very very musical and a unbeatable at $230 used. Upgrading the PSU might give it a bit more re...
Bel Canto s300iu versus Peachtree Nova: thoughts?
The Decco is known for it's DAC. It's the new Buffalo Sabre chip and us supposed ti be excellent. The Be Canto is know for the integrated amp. The DAC in it is nowhere near the DAC 3. So one has a solid amp and midi DAC and the other has a great D...
USB Length, jitter and Volume Control Questions
If the files you are pushing across the airport are already in mp4 (ALAC) does it still go through the conversion? Also, would using Airfoil and selecting "internal speaker" use the internal DAC in the Mac?
USB Length, jitter and Volume Control Questions
Unfortunatly I don't have the ability to use a short cable unless I go wireless (airport express to toslink). My library is 30 feet away.
USB Length, jitter and Volume Control Questions
I have not tried FireWire. I have a drobo hookedup to my only FireWire port. Can you daisy chain audio with storage?I'm also thinking about getting either an airport express to toslink or a 30 ft toslink cable and bypassing USB altogether.Thoughts?

Forward Monitor with Detail Speed and liquid Highs
The Zus overpowered the room because the are so big that I could not sit far enough away to allow the driver and tweeter to integrate. I alsofound that they need to be played loud to get the dynamics going.
Forward Monitor with Detail Speed and liquid Highs

Budget minded bookshelves
I would recommend four different speaker choices for you.1) Epos Els-32) Usher S-5203 )Triangle Stella4) PSB B25I would also probably get a better DAC. You can get the VALAB USB DAC on ebay for $200. That's about $50 more than the Fubar, but it is...

Ohm Walsh Micro Talls: who's actually heard 'em?
Just got mine. Pretty good. They do some things great right out of the box. Different than typical box speakers. I have some opinions of them already but I don't want to say until I've given them a chance to really settle in and have compared them...
Ohm Walsh Micro Talls: who's actually heard 'em?
Got my new MircoWalsh Tall's yesterday. So far they are pretty good. I'm still breaking them in and getting used to their presentation. I have noticed that when I stand up the imaging gets considerably better and the top ended get sharper, not bri...
