Ordered Visaton B200 for open baffle. Am I alone?
Fiddler, I probably should have prequalified my "warm & lush" statement by divulging that my last speaker was a Lowther-based design ;^)

Similar....i've been toying with the PHY KM30 in a birch ply semi-open baffle (see PHY site for plans) with very good results. BIG, warm, lush, tonally correct, detailed but not in-your-face, and engaging. Having a great time with 2A3 & 300B. ...
Blinded by the Lights
I've been eliminating or switching off these lamps for years. The only thing I like glowing in my system is the tubes! Try either wiring-in a small resistor (experiment with value) or disconnecting the lamp altogether. Alternately, you could wire ...

Does removing the plastic covers on caps help?
Really not worth getting into here, but you should audition some 47 Labs gear when you get a chance - It will make you realize "measured performance" has absolutely nothing to do with musicality. Keep an open mind and don't shortchange yourself.
Does removing the plastic covers on caps help?
The comment above assumes that the plastic around an electrolytic capacitor is an integral part of the design and is used to damp vibrations. Given that 99% of capacitors found in high-end equipment are also used in computers, calculators, VCR's, ...
