What responsibility does a seller have to tell a customer an item has been serviced?
None whatsoever. It is a 'used product' and apparently works as designed.  Yep, it is 'sorry Charlie'. You really do need to work out all potential issues with the seller before you buy. Ignorance is a poor excuse I'm afraid.
Upgrade my Yaqin MC-100b for $2,000 - should I or not?
If you really do love the sound today relax and enjoy it. Audio systems are all about synergy. It is easy to say that there are many integrated amps available which may be constructed better and have potential to sound better than your Yaqin. But ...
I’m gob smacked. What were you’re aha moments?
That day in 1985 when I dragged home an ARC SP10 II pre-amp. My first tube product. WOW! I kept it for about 25 years.
Is anything better than the Accuphase T-100?
I used one for about 15 years without problems - then it needed an overhaul and I couldn't find any one to do it. A fine tuner! Much better than my T101 which also died. I now use some Yamaha Tuners, T2 & 85. Just not the same - the tuners are...
Jazz for aficionados
FWIW I've always enjoyed a recording of  Hoagy Carmichael music by the Rick Hollander Quartet 'Once Upon a Time' on Concord Jazz.
Do you listen to equipment or music.
Universal problem, I think, for all serious audiophiles. We all do what you have done,to some degree or another, and we quit when we have optimized our systems potential, but , even then, when we put on a (new) disc the first thing that we notice ...

Amazon has it under 'Schubert Grigory Sokolov' Sonatas D 894 and 960. A two disc set which only contains the two sonatas, one on each disc. A Naive disc OP30387. BTW the 894 ain't chopped liver!  :-)This set is also part of the "Complete Recording...

jcazador, I agree and for folks who want to explore on the cheap there is a 10 CD set (on Amazon) title ’Complete Recordings’ for $44. Only a couple of nits: 1) it isn’t complete; 2) These are excerpts from live performances so the recordings aren...
Classical Music for Aficionados
Interesting! Reminds me of Shchedrin's Carmen Suite - only in that there are no (!!!) horns.  I really like that piece. There are several in print for anyone interested in a really enjoyable take on an old chestnut.
Classical Music for Aficionados
A couple of CD sets some of you may like, a lot. I do anyway.Sokolov  The Salzburg Recital and Sokolov  Schubert //Beethoven. The former is mainly Mozart and Chopin and the second, as the title suggests, Beethoven and Schubert. Both live recitals ...
How important is it for you to attain a holographic image?
Boxer12, Often reflective side walls can be conquered by simple, but radical toe of the speakers, with out the need of using ugly treatments on the walls to deaden high frequency reflections. Often, not always. Give it a try if you already haven't...
Buy 12ax7 tube
lowrider, I think that the company that made the the SED Winged C El34 (the old Svetlana in St Petersberg) is not the company that took on the Svetlana name and now markets the 12AX7 and other tubes labeled Svetlana. I don't think that the St Pete...
Buy 12ax7 tube
Apart from the primary consideration that must be made, i.e. any tube's potential to synergize with your other components, speakers, room acoustics, etc, assuming you want a neutal tube, ala the Telefunken, which I consider one of the best, you mi...
How important is it for you to attain a holographic image?
rvpiano, For the sake of clarity, consider that in my ’offending post’ I was directly addressing Goeff, Orpheus10, and yourself, separately. In my comment to you I said "just as someone might revel in his.....",meaning Orpheus10 .Should I have int...
How important is it for you to attain a holographic image?
rvpiano, FWIW, I don’t understand why I would need to apologize to you. The comments in my 1/13/19 post certainly could be construed by someone as negative, but they were not directed toward you. At least that was not my intent. In fact I thought ...
