Avantgarde Zero 1-XD availability
I would ask these people. I believe Angie, whom I met at a show, is the NA distributor. Maybe you are not so far away from Richmond Hills, anyway. In case you are not yet aware, aware there is also a TA ("semi-active") version of the Zero. I reall...
Electrostatic pros and cons.
The main pro I would say is the very low distortion with their air-damped diaphragm. They have a high resolution and high articulation that gives a crystalline, yet fatigue-free sound. The other pro is that as a line source, one can sit very far a...
Vandersteen VLR CT
"Anyone know if there are any changes to the mid/woofer driver in the VLR CT?"I have to wonder if Vandersteen had to in part raise the rent on VLR Wood by changing the tweeter to "CT". Surely they changed the binding posts as well. That is a big p...

Higher Efficiency Speakers
Audiokinesis speakers are terrific and are commonly married to Atma-Sphere. Duke LeJeune has great taste in sound. They are front loaded horn hybrids but strike me as a blend of a wave guide, although I may stating this out of turn. Fatigue free s...
any speakers using all Scanspeak Classic drivers?
The old YG Anat, although the woofer is partially a revelator is my understanding
Vandersteen 7 mark ll or big Kef blades
With thirty thousand dollars of distance between (not considering the difference is typical amp pairing) them I have to wonder from a marketing perspective why these two particular models are of interest.
Nature of the current used speaker market
I remember the used market being a cheap, nominal listing fee and being able to find almost anything one wanted in a short time period. Used market prices were stable. Now is there is next to nothing, and ads are commonly filled with items with fr...
Big speakers in small room at moderate volume levels
The TAD ME1 manual suggests closer wall side and front wall placement than KEF suggests for the R1. I heard the ME1 in that suggested spot at a show. The bass was lumpy as expected from that small speaker, but to be fair others in the room express...
Ordered Magico S5 MK II traded S5 MK I - Thoughts - Feedback - Anyone here them?
Have not heard the five, but the S3mkII is a thing of beauty. I did not understand Magico until I heard it. I have read opinions that the S series can bright, but that was assuredly not my experience.
Curious what people think is the best "value" high end speaker (~5K to 15K)
I do not know the seller, but for my taste I have never seen a better sound-for-dollar deal than this:https://www.audiogon.com/listings/lis97jgj-analysis-audio-omega-analysis-omega-planarsI have mind just to buy them, even though I have new speake...
JBL 4367: What an AMAZING sounding speaker!
My opinion is while both models are coherent the Quatro is more so, although setup is vital. The Quatro is more extended in the LF and has the advantage of smoother HF. Vandersteens are softer sounding the 4367 and more homogenizing in a sense. Wh...
JBL 4367: What an AMAZING sounding speaker!
I have had my pair for a number of months but have been too busy to do much with them. They are certainly designed within Toole's philosophy. Although their tone is dry they are not quite as bleached out as I have experienced the similar sounding ...
Harbeth 30.1 ? The Ultimate Speaker under $5K ?
They lack the initial impression of what Harbeth and Devore market but the Ryan R630 are the $5k speakers that made me look inward to seriously consider if being more ambitious was really worth the extra expense. They are ridiculously well balance...
