What isolation feet to use??
Jimjoyce25, would Marigo do money-back even if the footer has been taken apart? That would be funny.Nikturner920, you input the expected weight, as well as the shape and size, and viscocity of the Sorbothane footer, and it outputs the resonant fre...
Divorcing..Splitting the cd collection..
Since you stated you wanted to do this right, there's a couple things you should look into, and I'll list them here briefly:1. A RAID storage, preferably network attached so it doesn't have to attach directly to your computer or player (they're no...
Seeking advice on high res computer music: 4 Qs
1. Yes, you can keep using ITunes. I use Foobar2000. Blindjim mentions some other very good programs.2. I disagree with TAS. There is no functional or qualitative difference between using a USB out to a good jitter-rejecting DAC, or USB to Optical...
What isolation feet to use??
I would add that the theoretical ideal is to lower the resonant frequency below 5Hz, so that it becomes inaudible, but some devices, for example, may purposefully tune the resonant frequency between 20-40Hz, which will produce an audible bass hump...
What isolation feet to use??
Sorry I was not clear. Whether a device subjectively improves upon your sound is up to experimentation. While maple blocks and such might physically "isolate" a component from ground, it does nothing to isolate vibrations (spikes are most efficien...
What isolation feet to use??
I'm not sure about the audiophile stuff, but isolation in physics is a kind of decoupling, and the purpose is to absorb or cancel out vibrations. The ideal model for this is the spring and dashpot, the next best thing is a visco-elastic material. ...
Can someone give me some insight.
Do yourself a favor and get some plain old Belden IC's and upgrade your spreaker/pre/amp to your desired sound instead. If you are experiencing rolled off high-end, that probably has more to do with your Rotel than anything.
Newer CDP vs Older DAC
Two consecutive DACs are impossible. When you use optical out from your CD player, you are bypassing its internal DAC (the signal remains digital), and using the A324 as your DAC. In order to use the DAC from your CD player, you must use analog out.
Why manufactures donĀ“t burn in their amps and ...
For those that are using price as an excuse... give me a break!! A manufacturer could easily burn in an amp with tubes, then replace those stock tubes for $10 or $20 each. Assuming the amp was over $1000 to begin with, that's an insignificant amou...
Music Management Software 2009 ??
I should add: A lot of software are advertising this feature where they automatically update your tags by an online database. While this is initially handy, every software that I've used that has done this has messed up at some point, and going ba...
Music Management Software 2009 ??
I don't understand the need for 'audiophile' software; seems to me like if you just want to organize music, that has nothing really to do with sound fidelity. There are a variety of software you could try. One that I highly recommend, as it is cust...
PC toDAC Connection
Look for something like the Behringer UCA-202 (it's a USB/Digital audio adaptor).
Long Speaker cables
I disagree with longer ICs. ICs are more susceptible to interference.
connect laptop to main system
Since you said you didn't want to spend hundreds (e.g. no Squeezebox), a simple solution is a USB-Optical converter box like the Behringer UCA-202. They cost generally between $40-80. You can also get a modified one from the Tube Audio Designs web...
Accuphase DV60 or modded Oppo BDP-83?
I did a quick search on the Esoteric and came up with about $3000. If that's the case, then I would personally go for the Oppo BDP-S83, which would give you about $2500 for the best DAC you could afford. Then you would get Blu-ray AND USB playback...
