Mirage OM Series Speakers / Component Matching
I have heard most of those amps in my system and the classe at a deal w/a familiar setup, I would put the Odyssey Stratos at the top of your list in that pricerange. In that big of a room with full range speakers, you will not be happy with the Mus...
Center image on left side and don't know why
That's another problem I was thinking of but forgot to mention: Many speakers have a "head-in-a-vice" sweet spot, move your head an inch or more one way or the other and the magic is gone, the soundstage collapses. Such is the problem with the maj...
Center image on left side and don't know why
You also want to make sure the recording you are using for reference actually has the vocals center stage. Many recordings, especially operas for instance, will place the vocalists all over the soundstage, for example, from standing just a foot in...
Can B&W Seres 80 802 Sound This Good?
Give some credit to the rest of your gear, especially the Odyssey monoblocks! I've heard the newer B&W 803's go from simply awful with very expensive McIntosh gear, and also with a Rotel setup, then to something much more special with Pararoun...
MF A3 speaker connectors: What were they thinking?
Right! Good call, bob55. I wasn't thinking that one may try to put the banana through the speaker wire hole and not the proper hole in the back of the binding post, but reading the post closer this may be the problem!

Just experiment with moving 1 single speaker foward or back to get it to lock in, that will likely fix the symptoms and may even be the cause....
MF A3 speaker connectors: What were they thinking?
Just putting one spade through the hole is a very poor connection, very very poor actually as the hole is not flush and only a hairs breadth of contact is made. This will cause brightness and poor bass. You can buy locking banana plugs which are p...
What interconnects with SACD 1000 ?
So a person is not allowed to change their opinion on gear? I should be shot, too, then. During the course of an evaluation my opinion can sway greatly from the first moment I hear it play until a few weeks later once it (or my ears) have settled ...
How Do Odyssey Amps Stack Up To McCormack Amps.
I have heard the DNA1 too, and though none of the amps in question are anywhere near what I would call perfect, I'm sorry but the Odyssey was a clear winner to my ears, especially for its superior transparency and lack of grain. With the Odyssey y...
How Do Odyssey Amps Stack Up To McCormack Amps.
Ditto the above, the Odyssey amp is in a different league.
I am looking for a smoothest sounding outboard DAC
The Chord is very nice, but overpriced. I would take the Musical Fidelity A3 24 Dac over the Chord64, and at 1/3 the price but sounding just as good overall it is an easy choice!
philips sacd 1000 as a redbook player
I could have sworn this player came out at $2000, dropped to half of that in less then a year and was recently blown out at $400 (which should tell you something). It seems if one bought this player for over a grand they where reamed pretty hard f...
Where should my equipment rack go?
I place everything on small "amp-stands" on the floor between and behind the speakers and have had great results. Vibrapods take car of the vibrations. Cables are shortest and cheapest this way, too....
Speaker Suggestions
I've heard the ML's and Theils, wouldn't buy either one. What are your musical tastes and what kind of sound are you looking for? Any which way, hearing a speaker for yourself and your local dealer is worth a hundred thousand words from a stranger...
$500 total to get into vinyl, what would you buy?
Thanks much for the feedback, this has been most helpful. I should have mentioned that I will be using the Musical Fidelity inborad phono stage in the A3cr preamp, the linestage of which is fabulous. I understand this phonostage isn't great but im...
