Denon DL300, 304
I'm using an DL103 on a Rega RB300 with excellent results. Adding 3 grams to the head shell locked it in. Sounds spectacular. I have a DL110 in the package that I ordered before trying the headshell weight. I'm now in no rush to install it as ever...
The HI-Q EMI Classical Reissue's
I just listened to The Nutcracker and Swan Lake LPs, and here the vinyl is mostly quiet, very acceptable. The recordings are also excellent, both made in Kingsway Hall. I had an original Capitol pressing of the Swan Lake and the Hi-Q is preferable...
The HI-Q EMI Classical Reissue's
Listening to Music of Spain - Paris Conservatoire Orchestra with De Burgos. I have cleaned it on the VPI but was a little disappointed with the constant surface noise. I'm going to try another deeper cleaning but if it remains, it might explain wh...
The HI-Q EMI Classical Reissue's
I'm was surprised to find virtually no discussion of this series. I picked up three initially (Holst Planets, Vaughn Williams String Music, and Sibelius No 5. There is currently a sale of many titles for 9.95 at Elusive Disc. I picked up Nutcracke...
Peachtree Nova 300
I'm considering one for my bedroom system but the Stereophile review makes me pause. I'm going to be investigating other integrated amps.
Legendary used amp, or economical new one?
I'm using a 3150 in my current system. Like another poster mentioned, the spring behind the power switch failed so I keep it in the on position permanently and control on and off from a power strip. I in face purchased an Odyssey Khartago ++ (basi...
Is the Last Record Preservative system a worthwhile investment?
Every record I've bought used with a Last sticker on it sounded very quiet. It's pretty much a guarantee the record has been treated well. I believe it works but I have no direct experience other than that.
Appropriate Power for 1.7i's
I had the 1.6 and now MMG pending an upgrade to 1.7. After much research I called Klaus at Odyssey and told him of my system and the planned upgrade of the speakers. He custom designed what is essentially a Stratos in a Khartago case with several ...
stereo for the joy of it - can records be cleaned?
A reminder that if the set is in its original state, the sleeves are or were glassine. I might do research on removing glassine debris from vinyl. In my experience I've never seen glassine sleeves damage vinyl, in fact I think it makes a very good...
Snake oil and tweaks that work!
I was very excited to find the Cardas Frequency Sweep now available as an iPhone app. Works just like the one on the record, only .99 cents. Worth trying, I use it over Bluetooth to a Bluetooth receiver hooked up to my line level inputs.
