Hegel H590 List $13,500. Reasonable?
Wow for a HiFi thread there is a lot of prejudice and steeped in racialism...!
Whats the deal?
I have recently in my late life, discovered a dream HiFi System which actually 'wowed' me and is not too 'unrealistic' in the price.  Fortunately the speakers look good and solid, and I think would attract the 'wife' approval in the siitting room....
Music I would succumb to under torture
The op has a point.  I noticed that a vast majority of present audiophile reviewers (from mostly the 'western' world) love to listen to this 'Diana Krall' to talk about the sound of the component.  She is so often used in reviews that I am getting...
Arguments devolve on threads to wordsmithing contests
Most disagreements on HiFi forums are like the OK Corral gunfight of egos.  The posters pretend to argue their particular subject or cause but in reality they are imposing their 'superior' ego over the other and others who read the thread are like...
Best song for immediate impact when presenting or testing?
I just heard the ATCSCm40 speakers,  'wow' and super 'wow'.  The track they played was Sans Saens - Danse Macabre.  I know this track well but hearing it through these speakers bought out the full majesty of this music.  The speakers have this ski...
We are buying and reviewing gear all wrong
Here in the UK I would never purchase standmount or floorstanding speakers without the benefit of a home audition.  Also I would if possible get the assistance of the dealer to set the speakers up in my own room for the audition.  To buy a speaker...
What is your experience with the law of diminishing returns ?
Law of diminishing returns, thats for peasants and serfs who think of price of something, how crass and crude...!
CD no more produced?
The title of this thread sends shivers to me because I do not want to rely on streaming if I cannot own the music, also streaming can involve more components (eg computer, laptop). To date my music collection is mainly of vinyl and Cds.  I listen ...
Whats playing on your system today?
UFO’s "Strangers in the night" is a very special album for me stretching from my teens. It showed what talented group UFO was back then and they had Michael Schenker as the lead guitarist, his contribution was awesome and so individual in his styl...
Scansonic mb serie
Just to say that at the Sound & Vision Bristol HiFi show I heard Scansonic M6 floorstander (at the time price was £1000.00 now understand it has gone up) what immediately struck me was their resolution, airy sort of 3d presentation and realist...
Best song for immediate impact when presenting or testing?
For me there are many songs that have immediate impact, a lot of them are well recorded (eg. Dire Strait Songs, Pink Floyd,) so they will sound good on a very expensive system and equally sound good on an under £1000 system, so I purposefully do n...
Gryphon vs Luxman vs Accuphase
Yes, I love my class A Luxman L-590AXII. Before Luxman, I was using the Hegel H360 and was thinking about upgrading to the Gryphon Diablo 300. I’ve heard the Diablo at the audio show and loved the sound. But thanks to @greginnh for recommending th...
Jimmy Page, It's time to call your lawyers?
Heart a Zep tribute band...?
Whats playing on your system today?
Uriah Heep.s songs, Best of The Doors, Sibelius Last movement of First Sympthony and some chosen Arabic music.
Jimmy Page, It's time to call your lawyers?
Deep Purple sort of borrowed many tunes from previous artists to create their famous pieces, however the members of that band admit to it, so obviously they feel safe from any looming court proceedings....
