Have you had enough of Classic Rock?
I've got 4 local listener-supported stations that I usually hit before I resort to the commercial airwaves, so I don't hear the classic rock over-saturation enough to care.  But I get where you're coming from.
Your favourite Christmas song.......
slow:  The Christmas Song, Nat King Colefast:  Jingle Bell Rock, Randy Travis  (if you haven't heard this, check it out)
What unknown musical artist would you like to share with your fellow audiophiles?
markmendenhall, Albert Collins played a Telecaster (through a Fender Twin Reverb with the treble on 10 and the bass on 0--it was beyond piercing).

+1 for Redd Volkaert.  As far as I know he just does covers (I've heard him many times, so I presume that's the case) but he manhandles a telecaster like nobody else.  And it's rarely mentioned but he has a great baritone voice.  I'm hoping to see...
Carpenters
rpeluso, I'm sure you can still get the original mixes.  I would trust Richard Carpenter to remix the tracks in a way that is faithful to the original intent while taking advantage of modern technology.
Sarasate Suggestion
Shadorne, they were ALL child prodigies.  And, FWIW, I like Mutter's playing very much.
Bach Double Violin Concerto
there's a vinyl CD of David and Igor Oistrakh playing that piece.  There's also two movements (II and III) of them playing that same piece available on video.  I haven't heard the LP but the live performance on video is very good.
If you could only keep 5 record albums, what would they be?
A Hard Day’s Night (Beatles, UK Stereo)Pet Sounds (Beach Boys, 90’s stereo mix)The Inner Mounting Flame (Mahavishnu Orchestra)Goldberg Variations (Bach/Glenn Gould, 1981 ) Late Quartets (Beethoven/Guarneri Quartet)
Which band IS really America's Greatest (rock & roll band)?
All things considered, I think CCR for several reasons, including their diverse American influences and their crossover appeal.  I'm pretty sure a lot of country and soul/R&B fans gave them "thumbs up" and some even bought their records. If lon...
... POORLY RECORDED SONGS THAT ...
It doesn't hurt my ears to listen to it, and part of the charm is the low-budget way it was done, but I wish "The Basement Tapes" (Bob Dylan and the Band) was better recorded.  That said, I think Garth Hudson did a good job with the limited resour...
Is it time to just quit?
Sounds as if it might be time to take a break for a while.  You'll know when it's time to return.  Give your mind a rest and just enjoy what you've got until then.
What is the first album you purchased, and do you still have it?
"All Summer Long," The Beach Boys.  I still have it but I'd be afraid to play it for fear of damaging my stylus.  I'm sure it was abused in the first few years of its existence.  I have some of the tracks on CD and still listen to them occasionally.
Greatest debut album
bdp24, I agree about Jack's bass playing.  You may know he was the principal reason Grace Slick quit the Great Society and joined Jefferson Airplane.  It's a shame his bass part on the Electric Ladyland LP got horribly lost in the mix.  I'd love t...
Greatest debut album
I can easily agree with a half dozen previously listed LP's.  The first Hot Tuna album, while not a commercial smash, was excellent.
If you could just pick one instrument that you think sounds best on your speakers
I chose my speakers  largely for the way they reproduce vocals, but I think piano sounds better (more authentic/convincing).  Dynaudio Contour 1.3 mkII
