@ Elizabeth, 10% cost rule for cables to system cost, That's crazy!, Try that the other way around!, works hugely better!, I have never, ever, regreted doing so!, For crying out loud!, cables are as, or more important than the componets them selfs!, I have done many test regarding this, I have even used a $300.00 yamaha cd/player with high performance cables that were not cheap by any means, beat out multi-thousand dollar componets with inferrior cables by a whole, whole lot in performance!, I did this test in front of 15 people, you should have seen the shock look on their faces, they went from laughing, to me laughing! |
Hi Geoffkait, yes I did try it both ways, of course this will not happen to all cable brands, However, this true story happend when useing some Taralabs cables back in the late 90s at a store in columbus, OH called proggresive audio, in those years this store sold top equipment, the store has went thru ownerships since then, they do not carry top performance two channel equipment any more, sad, the store was directly across the Ohio State campus, columbus was a great place to visit, I enjoyed my time there. |
My Idea of a full loom is one pair of speaker cables, one interconnect, one power cable, I have not had the chance to hear the power cable with the rest of the cables, but one interconnect 1-meter, one pair of 6ft speaker cables, Its the best I ever listened too, It's a full loom!, I run source to amp, done deal, LOl!, I do believe length will have alot to do with a loom to sound good, Taralabs told me never to use more than two meters of the zero gold interconnect, otherwise the sound will go south, they tell all their customers this about the zero gold I/C.. I'm sorry it did not work out for you pops with the 0.8 5- meter interconnect, this also may be system dependent on what you were useing the cable on, I also have a full loom of the Taralabs the one cable model, used them in the same set-up I have, worked spectacular!, To each their own, If the day comes that I cannot run a full loom, I get rid of componets that must have effected the cables sound to perform poorly! |
Dennis, I bet when I come to your house I will use a loom on your system and it will work, I want to come this summer, get the grill ready, pool, drinks, have adam over too. |
Dennis, I do not have a full loom for your big set-up, I got a pair of the one speaker cables, also the interconnect, I throw in the cobalt power cord, I do not have, the one power cord, But hey, Adam does!, he can bring it, that will be as close as we can get, unless someone springs for more, the one cables, when this summer?, I have not looked into yet, this is my idea, I have not got to springing the idea on the wife yet!, Ha, Ha, we all know what the females may say?, I am hoping, we always do not get everything we want, well see. |
