I cannot see the tweeks of AC, and cables as being band-aids. They rather clean up the basic electrical so the equipment can shine as it really can do the best. Some folks say "if they made the equipment right in the first place".. True but then that $5000 box of electronic parts would cost $10,000. !!

taras22: Thank you, sincerely, your quoted material helped me to understand the qualities involved better than any other bit of text I have read about them. So thank you for increasing my understanding of the principles involved. And prof, please change you diaper. it smells... bad.

Ahh the mystery of Women....

We all USED to have those variables Michael Green is writing about... They are called TONE CONTROLS. Every preamp had them. Then somewhere in the 1980s they all vanished. To make way for aftermarket cables. With tone contols, no one needed aftermarket cables. So the ’Secret Audio Cabal’ had them all removed from everyone’s preamps so millions of dollars could be spent trying to fix tone problems with cables instead of the good old tone controls.THIS MESSAGE WAS BROUGHT TO YOU BY FOGHORN LEGHORN: "It’s a JOKE son, I say its a JOKE"

Douglas... Just curious about single cables with double wires? So say a brand of cable makes a set of XX with four wires. and then makes a second types with same wire but using eight wires. Would that be like' the doubled up cables? or do they need to be separate runs?
|
Ahh just because you can find four quack articles spouting the usual ’wire is wire’ stuff, but about HDMI cables. Does not make it true. LOL I can post links to hundreds of diatribes against any High End wires. All it means if some folks cant hear. (can’t see either apparently)

IT is easy to improve video quality in a TV screen with AC tweaks. Power conditioner, Power cords and I found the PS Audio Noise Harvester to increase the clarity of the video from my old Sony Plasma even more, though it was already through the FurmanREF20 and better power cords. My HDMI experience is with one single cord. So I have little experience, other than getting mad with the flimsy wafer supporting the cable end BREAKS.

"Drip under pressure’ They are not an 'ex'pert. The are a 'current' spurt under Geoff’s definition. So many threads trying to ’simplify’ the complexities of audio. I agree for a newbie audio is a daunting hobby with way too many choices, and hardly anyone to trust. Every audiophile has a different agenda and equipment brands they like, in fact rave madly about. No consensus, no map. Used to be one went to the dealer, where for good or bad you got your salesman guru fix... and a system. Now, few dealers, no apparent gurus, since everyone is a guru expounding why they are right, and all those other fools are wrong. Several types of amps, big small, Solid State, tubes, SET, OTL, Class A, or D, preamp no preamp, digital must be a certain KIND of chip, this one NO that one, power cords. can’t just use the stock one .. OMG! nooooo. I would hate to be trying to start out in this hobby. No question I would just walk away and start a tropical fish hobby instead....

One real positive of the doubling up of cables is.. the person suggesting it is NOT making money off it, Usually the folks who are trying to get rich off anyone, make money. Clearly this guy is just writing he found it to be of value to himself, and others have tried it and also found it to be of value. Beyond that, there is no marketing of anything. No sales. One could double up old spare cables one already owned. So to me, the only sort of attack is the general attack of the claim that some cables sound better. And thus this idea must also be a rip off (somehow? to the guy complaining) since it too is claiming the cables sound better doing this doubling up. For me to try it would cost me $51.80 to buy 4 'F ' AQ dual RCA Since I have piles of spare cables. I could try it with one of my spare preamps.. And actually the whining against it has made me think to try it..So thanks to jhills, one more potential user of the method may exist.

I would dd the type of thinking each contributor does is how some posts have that religious fervor, and some are dry as dust. Some ramble on repeating the same drivel. Some folks rely on the physical senses to make meaning of the World. Some think logical thinking is the only way to make sense of the World. Some believe whatever emotionally strikes them as 'meaningful' (with no hard thinking or checking reality is how to see the truth of the World.Good luck.

It a hobby... First off no one actually cares what anybody else thinks. They may lip service the ideas, but in the end, everybody does whatever they please. If ten thousand audiophiles said you MUST do xxx. Well? am I gonna do XXX? depends on am I willing to be bothered? and how much does it cost? Do I actually believe the hype? For example the $599 sheet of Magic Paper.. Marvelous! Fantastic! some folks own a dozen!! That is over seven grand for what? Sorry, When the price is $5.99 maybe.. MAYBE. Same thing for cables. who cares is anyone else wants/does not want them?? Must be folks just need something to argue about. Reminds me of the Renaissance question tormenting endless scholars of "How many Angels can dance on a pin" (BTW the answer is none. they are forbidden to dance on pins anymore. Devils however just love to dance on pins.. out of spite.) All you Devils posting here. STOP!! Where is a good exorcist when you need one? Also. anyone had an exorcism done on the stereo? Cure those gremlins??

I'm offended. Maybe I need a 'time out' with my sippy cup?
|
I have decided to be a all out denier on Tuesdays and Thursdays. A believer in everything anyone says on Wednesdays and Fridays. "Who cares" on Mondays and Saturdays, Reserving Sundays for actually thinking for myself, in any way at all.

Sadly true. I do not have the funds to throw out all the aftermarket cables and buy them back... twice a week. How ever I could just swap them back and forth every day.. Whew! I am tired already just THINKING of all that swapping, Time for a nap. |
