Whats playing on your system today?

Today I decided to listen to two of my favorite rock guitar heros and one great vocalist. Guitarist' Robin Trower, Ronnie Montrose and vocalist Davey Pattison.

I listened to Trower songs:
Bridge of sighs, Stitch in time, The fool and me, my personal favorite- Too rolling stoned and others.....

Then I pulled out "Gamma".
I listened to: Razor King, Wish I was and Skin and bone and others.....

Davey Pattison hooked has also up with Michael Shenker also. I really enjoyed my day so far. Anybody else heard anything good?

Jay McShann - The Big Apple Bash.
Alberta Hunter with Lovie Austin - Chicago Living Legends.
Aldous Harding - Party.
Speer D. Charles - Leaving the Commonwealth.

@ghosthouse ,

Thanks for your interest.

I may be (off) in the relationship of their output...

The cover art is 20th century farmers on the field. If this helps.

They are an overlooked band for sure! If you need to just feel good or feel right..listen to "Don’t Look Down", A hell of an album! I own two copies.

(Any listening day is a good day)

This lp should be in everyone’s library!!!

This will become one of your favorite discs for a while..
Hey there @slaw
Hope you are having a good day.  By the looks of how much music you are playing, I'd guess you are.  Saw your post that included Ozark Mtn. Daredevils.  Was that a typo?  Did you mean, '13' instead of '3'??

I was in school in Springfield, MO back when the OMDD were breaking.    They were hometown heroes, of course.  Songs from their first LP getting a lot of local airplay.  I have their first 4 releases on old but good condition vinyl.  Didn't follow them much after Car Over The Lake, actually.  Gonna have to check out '13' if that's what you meant - don't know it at all.  The "Quilt" album is probably my favorite.  Love the outro on Colorado Song...

@bluesy41,

You don’t mean to say that Holly Cole is not worthy of "warm tubes" do you?

up next..

The Ozark Mountain Daredevils "3" (lp)...this lp is an example of a driving force behind my going to record shows.

The Be Good Tanyas "Blue Horse" dbl/lp

The Meters "Struttin’ " (lp)

all the while..intermingling a lp from the Johnny Cash box....all day long......that’s right!

Just felt a need to dbl. reference the Melissa Etheridge "Never Enough" lp. Mine happens to be the 1st press EU, but I’d imagine going forward, any pressing would sound good. Excellente’!!
Listening to Holly Cole as my tubes warm up and then it’s Wayne Shorter Speak No Evil.
@slaw

Sounds like a vinyl purchase is on the cards!

Next up

No more tears....Ozzy.
Now this is a great example of a terrible cassette master! So muffled in the bass, had to switch to Tidal to finish off the album!
Next four...

C, S, N & Y  "Deja Vu" Classic Records
David Crosby "If I Could Only Remember My Name" Classic Records
Melissa Etheridge "Brave & Crazy"
Melissa Etheridge "Never Enough" EU/lp
@uberwaltz,

I pulled it out several weeks ago. It sounds darn good. It's one of, maybe my favorite RP solo lp.

"Ship of Fools" is a great song!

Now & Zen...... Robert Plant.
Probably the best engineered cassette I own, would love to hear it on vinyl as the tape version is sublime!
C,S,& N  "(couch cover)"  Classic Records
C,S,& N  "(boat/ocean cover)"  (lps)
Hey All,

Burning in a new piece of equipment. Might as well listen to the progression of sound. I have a lot of time to burn.

Another tragic waste of a supremely talented musician.
Sparklehorse "Dreamt for Light Years in the Belly of a Mountain"  (lp)

...interesting artist if you're not familiar............
Tomasz Stanko’s Dark Eyes album. This music breaks my heart, it is so beautiful.
Nils Lofgren - "Acoustic Live" - Analogue Productions Double LP - A fantastic sounding recording of a very special live session. Nice stuff.
My most recent vinyl was Eric Johnson Ah Via Musicom (just received new vinyl) and Pat Travers Live Go For What You Know (German pressing I’ve had for around 35 years). Great to see Rory getting some attention as well as Trower, Montrose and Tommy Bolin.
Followed by a true British classic rock and roll band
The original 3 chord wonderboys

The Last Night of the Electrics........ Status Quo!!

Sonny Rollins - The Bridge and Quincy Jones - Roots soundtrack. Both glorious. My Maggie's are truly making my ears smile.

-Cheers

Black Clouds and Silver Linings.... Dream Theater.

Gotta admire John Petrucci!
@kumakahn - You're Welcome. We're all in this thing together. Pass it on......
Thanks, Reubent. Concrete Blond. Holy s**t, Batman!. Bloodletting is amazing. I cant believe I have lived all these years without hearing about this band. What have I been living in a cave? I wish it were a little better produced. But, well worth the $5 I paid for it today. Really original and just plain cool.
This is my favorite place online. So much great music I might never discover by myself. Thank you all! Today, I bought three cds that I learned about here. Listening to Niel Young Unplugged right now. Wow, whomever recommended it was so right. Keep ‘em coming. I will share when I discover new stuff also.
