VPI Prime noise issue solved (wasn't the Prime's fault:)

Thanks to everyone for all of the suggestions as I wrestled with my VPI Prime hum issues.  Turned out it had nothing to do with the table.  The one part of my system I forgot to mention was the Eagle PSU speed control.   Apparently the unit causes all of the hum.  I bought it at the same time as the Prime, so I just hooked it all up together.  Tonight I plugged the VPI straight into the wall - almost dead silence.

Too bad that the speed control causes so much noise (I tried different PCs, outlets, positioning, etc.).

Thanks for all the help!

These things happen, I have been diagnosing crazy problems for almost 40 years and you would not believe what can cause noise in a system.  I remember one guy who had a hum and no matter what we did it would not go away, he moved his table 15" and it was gone.  Apparently there was a power cable in the wall right behind his interconnects and they picked up the radiation!!!  When you amplify things almost 1000 times you never know where the noise will come from.

I'm glad everything worked out for you.

Why you chose to start a new thread is of concern.

See my response on your original thread.

I'm still waiting (two weeks) for just a response through my dealer for my problem.

Frankly, if (this) is the kind of customer service I'll receive going forward...I'll be glad to have VPI buy back my tt for the original price.
To VPI:

I will not start a new thread if you'll buy back my turntable. I will then promise to never have any dealings with your company again.

I will thank you for this as the tt is just sitting around taking up valuable space.

Just for the record.... this issue is just one.. Last Feburary, I sent a question about the tonearm operation to my dealer. (I've saved the email).

I've NEVER received any response. This was just a question about the tonearm's operation folks!!!

Now I have an actual problem. Still, I cannot receive any response through my dealer.

Yet, the OP gets the two main guys responding... how be it still on another thread from the OP's initial issue.

and the beat goes on.......
