What's happened to the used high end market recently?? Sales are tough....:0(

The heading says it all!! What do you guys think is the reason that the sales in the used high end market have gone soft??
Prices too high? Economy too slow?? Stock market too volatile?? Something else??

Thoughts....

So why the prices for vintage equipment like: McIntosh, Marantz, Garrard, EMT, WE, Klangfilm... is not getting cheaper?
The reason the most of Hi-End equipment is hugely overpraised.

Personal experience:
In February I had $5 grand in checking account.
Foolishly I had spent two grand just in Dec on cables, just two pair)
Decided to buy something!
Was going to buy Magnepan 3.7i speakers to replace my 3.6. then I decide what the Hell! Why do a lateral! Go for the big boys and ordered a pair of Magnepan 20.7. So I charged $6000 as a deposit.
Got speakers, got new speakers to replace defect on first pair.
Paid off the $6K and worked on the remaining 8K BEFORE the interest rate kicked in.
Had it down to 4K and decided to refinance my paid off car at 2.99% rather than pay the outrageous 21% on the CC. Well. as long as I am financing hell get $11 grand.
So what to spend the other 7K on. I bought a Marantz SA-10.
My dealer said I did not need  new amps with my 20.7 or I might have spent the money on that. But I did need a better DAC. And the dealer loaned my the Marantz to try at home. wow, like it.

So since this February I spent $21,000 (plus tax) on stereo equipment. I am doing my part to support the industry.
Get out there and BUY something!
Now if only someone will buy my 3.6s*..
(*this is a joke and not a for sale advert.. Had to say that since no one repeat no one gets irony anymore. Sheesh.)

Well I’ve spent a substantial, amount in the hobby.  I’m done though. 30k in this rig and it sounds spectacular but I have been blessed to be around folks who put a lot more in and allowed me to try a lot of things.  It’s tough out here to get the sound you want sometimes if you don’t know how to match equipment and you don’t have the money to make mistakes. Then the other side of it is that there is a lot of high priced gear that just doesn’t get it done. That why HEA Is struggling.
