Technics SL1200/1210 owners - which mat?

I've upgraded to the Boston Audio mat, it's quite a big improvement over the stock rubber mat. I thought the stock rubber mat sounded very loose and ripe in the bass. The mids and highs were drowned out by the loose bass. Maybe this is the 'dark' sound people are referring to when listening to the Technics?

The Boston Audio Design Mat1 brings the sound together, firming up the bass, and bringing it in line with the mids and highs. Far more cohesive presentation.

What other mats have you tried and are using?

My KAB SL1200 with it's stock mat has deep, tight bass and extended highs. It has never been loose and ripe in the bass. Perhaps this is a set-up issue, or a cartridge loading issue.

I tried the SDS mat under the stock Technics mat, and the sound was tipped up and etched.

I'm not convinced of the positive effects of after market mats.

I believe a much larger benefit will be had by placing the table on a good isolation platform, and/or non resonant stand.

I have mine on a Neuance platform, which sits on a double stack of sorbothane "pucks".
KAB 1210 here.
tried stock technics.
SDS isoplatmat and Herbies Mat < tighter sound all round.
Here's a little tweek with the SL-12XX series. Turn the mat over, so that the all smooth side is up. James, if you would have known about this tweek, you would not had to spend money on a Boston. This tweek eliminates the described problems you had with the stock mat.
I switched to the heavy mat from KAB for better control of VTA. No bass issues, no resonance, no ringing.
