I've upgraded to the Boston Audio mat, it's quite a big improvement over the stock rubber mat. I thought the stock rubber mat sounded very loose and ripe in the bass. The mids and highs were drowned out by the loose bass.My KAB SL1200 with it's stock mat has deep, tight bass and extended highs. It has never been loose and ripe in the bass. Perhaps this is a set-up issue, or a cartridge loading issue.

I tried the SDS mat under the stock Technics mat, and the sound was tipped up and etched.
I'm not convinced of the positive effects of after market mats.
I believe a much larger benefit will be had by placing the table on a good isolation platform, and/or non resonant stand.
I have mine on a Neuance platform, which sits on a double stack of sorbothane "pucks".
