Linn LP12 ..still a good table??

After 15 years of digital Ive decided like alot to get back into analog.I have been offered an older 1970s LP12 w/Grace arm just serviced with new belts etc for a tad under what the market will support. My question is simply this..Is this table still considered good or should I pass and move onto newer production tables,if so what should I consider (under 1500.00 new or used)..thanks

When the day comes when my Linn Axis dies after almost 25 years of service, I would consider the LP12 as a replacement.

Can't argue against a company that built a table that is still clicking (better than ever with my current configuration I might add)after 25 years. I've gotten my moneys worth out of it 20X over.

Then again my standards in regards to turntables, though I think practically very high, are certainly not the highest out there on this site.
Missioncoonery,
Where do you live? Most major metropolitan areas have at least one person who is able to do a proper set-up on a Linn LP12.
Any recommendations for a Linn setup person in the SF Bay Area? The last Linn TT dealer here that I know of, Access to Music, has closed.
I used to live in the SF Bay Area. The
Analog Room in San Jose did all the work on my Linn. I think the owner's name is Brian. He did an excellent job.
Drubin,

From Access's web site:

We are closing our retail store on December 26, 2009.

We are continuing business as a custom installation company specializing in stereo sales and turntable upgrades.

Might be worth a try
