How many us a Line Conditioner with a Big Solid State power amplifier ? Such as a Big Threshold, Pass Labs, Krell, Levinson.

I am still not sure on using a line conditioner on my big power amps.

Tvad- No puzzling situation here. Just a little sarcasm on your end. Just wanted to get a feel on other's suggestion on using Big SS power amps with a line conditioner.

Thank you Teajay. Great to see another Vintage Threshold & PASS owner. Very happy with my amps.

I've ran my DNA 500 through a Hydra 2 and preferred it
that way over running it straight into the wall. I noticed
a slight decrease in dynamics and top end extension but
the benefits were a quieter background and a lot less
hash. The Hyrda's I had never gave me a problem.

So, you didn't have a Hydra crap out on you? You were just havin' a little fun?

You ought to indicate the joke with a smiley. Many people read these posts and take them at face value. Yours could be easily taken as fact and send the wrong message.

Mr. Shunyata.

Tvad,
Seriously the Hydra did crap out on my power amp. I tried it last night with my power amps. Each power amp was plugged in seperate times into the Hydra and took away my dynamics, depth , and soundstage. Sonically the Hydra diminished my sound greatly.

So I did answer my own question using the Hydra with power amplifiers.

Now others have suggested Running Springs Audio line conditioner, which I have not tried yet.

Tvad you seem to be an OK guy, but reading your million forums one would think you work for Shunyata. They make a good product, but value is weak with Shunyata. There are many other companies that make a better product without the hype. What I am saying these Audiogon forums should be unbiased level playing field. Not spamming or infomercial forums. We get enough of that in our life everyday.

Joe, then I go back to my earlier suggestion that you take a look at your electrical system. Frankly, I'd be concerned about a fire if one, 100 watt, Class A power amp is blowing a 20 amp rated power conditioner.

I don't work for Shunyata. Don't sell Shunyata. I own Shunyata. I've owned or auditioned Audio Magic, BPT, Sound Application, OneAC, Brickwall and Panamax. So, I offer opinion based on my experience in my own system. Opinions are all you can expect here on Audiogon.

You and I had a discussion in a thread in which the author specifically asked a question about Hydra conditioners and to which I responded as a Hydra owner. Then you asked me a specific question about the Hydra and your amps. Accusing me of being a shill for Hydra is a bit disingenuous based on this exchange. I went to some length to research an answer for you. Frankly, it doesn't matter which conditioner you choose. I want you to be satisfied and have as much info as possible with which to make a good decision.

The Panamax, OneAC, Brickwall all have worked with a 600wpc Bryston 14B SST which I sold years ago. The BPT, Hydra and Sound Application were all used with a 110 wpc KT88 push-pull tube amp.

BTW, if you're aware of the many other companies that make a better product than Shunyata, it's curious that you continue to seek advice here. You would seem to have the answer already.

Remember to contact Shunyata for warranty on your Hydra.
