Thanks Calvinj but the EAR doesn't interest me only b/c the VRE is such an outstanding pre-amp IMHO. The VRE actually beat out my beloved Kondo M1000-MKII that retailed at $95,000. And not by a small margin I might add.

@ SKsos1, Hi Steve, what does the new AMR cd-777SE retail for?, do you know if it has a volume control like the Ayon cd-2s, so the unit could be used direct to an amp?

@sksos1 maybe one day I will be brave and try ayon again. Maybe an amp or a pre amp.

Anybody replace the Ayon KT-88BX tubes with Tung Sol KT-150 tubes on their Ayon Audio Triton III? If so, could you describe the differences? Anybody try the KT-88 Winged C tubes on their Triton III?
