I just got the ayon cd2s. I loved it on the regular settings. I did not like it using the up sampling feature. It is a world class player at the price point or for that matter period. It is smooth. It has great detail. It has no digital glare. It has emotion. It has great separation and soundstage. Sounds like real music. It is not fatiguing. I paired it with a cp-800 and clarus crimson cables and was blown completely away. I am in a very happy audio place now thanks to the ayon cd2s.
The 24/192 sounded less smooth. It sounded unnatural. The 2s on the regular setting sounded best to me. It's a great player. It is worth every dime. I'm happy with it.
I'm gonna have the mit on trial next wed. I am going to try wireworld gold eclipse 7. I really like the mit matrix cables I heard on my system. I'm gonna demo stuff before I commit.

@gammajo. Could you tell me how the warmer tubes changed the sound of your ayon. Did you lose transparency or detail when you made the change. We're voices affected by your change. Tell me was adding the warmth worth losing anything else to your ears. I like warmth in my system it is a must.
@gammajo. I like the analog warm sound so you are saying that the 1980 nos tubes are the way to go?
@labyrinth @gammajo. I will be trying these tubes in my system soon. Thanks for the recommendation. I trust that they will work well. You guys as well as Paul @usa tube audio made these recommendations. I tried the cardas in my system it gave it warmth and weight and density like I like. I wonder how the golden cross sounds. I had the golden reference interconnects. I'm almost finished with my system I have an oracle ac 1 powercord coming next week and will get my matrix hd 36 interconnects next week as well. I need one more powercord a d one more interconnect. Would like to have warmth smoothness. I don't want something to open or revealing.
@gammajo. Are the EH 6h30pi gold pins warmer and more musical than the stock tubes. I'm not spending 1000 bucks on tubes. At least not yet. Lol. I just got the mit ac1 I'm not happy with it at all. I like the oracle ziii power cord a lot better and it was a lot cheaper. I going to send it back and get the ziii. As far as tubes go how much better are the reflector 1980 nos 6h30dr tubes compared to the stock and the eh 6h30 pi gold pins. I just want a warmer sound. That power cord made it brighter and with my clarus cables already being detailed it was a big no no. Audiolabyriinth is going to tell me that tara labs fixes it all. I heard the ziii oracle mit and it was a lot better. I would like to know your input. No tara labs suggestions please lol.
The oracle ziii was cheaper than the ac1 and it sounded better. Also Paul at usa tube audio told me to use RCA instead of xlr and to get tara labs. Lol. Y'all are on tara labs dope mainlining straight to the veins. Ha ha ha. I will get the ziii and send the ac 1 back.
Ok I give in. I might have to try tara labs. Lol. Fellas this is my system. Classe cp800. Classe ca2200. Ayon cd2s. Clarus crimson speaker cables. Mit matrix hd 36 interconnect. Clarus crimson power cords. I'm needing one more organic sounding smooth interconnect.
Ok I will check with you when I'm ready. My dealer is a elrod statement dealer as well. He just let me demo the elrod statement gold I just put it in. It is the size of a muffler. Lol.
Come down audio it will be ok step away from the ledge. Ayon and usa tube will make it right.
Didnt mean anything about it calm down usa tube audio is a good company and ayon will take care of you. Heard that they stand behind thier stuff.
I know when equipment goes bad it is frustrating at the prices we pay. We expect that they back thier products. That's why we pay the high premium
To get the best. I am going to order the eh 6h30 gold pins and in two weeks order the 6h30 dr.
@audiolabyrinth people think I am crazy. I understand. It shouldn't happen. I am a lawyer in Texas. This audio thing is crazy. But in a good way. I am thinking about getting vienna acoustics baby grands in place of my liutos.
I am having second thoughts. I think I am going to wait and get the concert grands instead in a few weeks instead of the baby grands. I am still thinking about what I am going to do. I like them but they may not be big enough for my listening room. I have room acoustic problems to start of with so that's the thing I probably should address first.
@gammajo. Thanks for doing the comparison. I would like to see how it turns out for you. Tubes are very important but I would like to get my money worth.
Sorry I was out if town. I was looking at those the music too. Can't afford them. The concert grands would match the other things I have now but I'm probably gonna wait to get something better. Still thinking about it more. I might just keep my liutos.
I'm keeping my liutos after all. I just tried nordost Tyr. I liked it very musical interconnect. I just got the eh 6 h 30 gold pins. Gonna tube roll by the wknd on my ayon.
I'm not selling my ayon. It's going to the grave with me. It's a great CD player and source
They should have provided the dr 6h30 tubes if they are the best. I'm hoping I can tube roll into a bigger soundstage and Better. I will report back after I hear both sets of tubes in my player. I will be trying the eh 6h30 pi gold pins and the 6h30 dr reflectors
Well I have to let someone put the 6 h30 eh gold pins in. I opened the unit up today and itis not just a simple tube roll. Also the sound with these tubes could be better I'm hoping theses tubes make it less forward sounding and give sit a wider soundstage. I will report back after i put some hours on the unit with the new tubes. I tried it on the ear 868 with a levinson amp over my friends house and it was not a match. However it sounds Bette on my classe gear. Will have the tubes put in by Tuesday and will give my impressions then.
@ audiolabyrinth. I tried the new eh 6h30 pi gold pins. It made ayon cd2s open up but it was bright sounding. No matter what I did it remained bright. It is focused on the midrange big time. Not as balanced as I would like. I put old tubes back in but it took a big step back. It was too forward but not open enough. It was a bad combination. I wanted to possibly try the 6 h30 dr tubes. I heard that try are great. They are just expensive. What do you think. Also if anyone reads this and they have the 6h30 dr tubes in an ayon cd2s or cd5s please chime in. I heard they are the best tubes by far.
@yull1375. The ayon seems to going through a nasty break in period. I think it is at about 100 hrs at this point. I changed tubes but I didn't let them break in before I took them back out. I'm wondering how much break in is a factor and the player sounds completely different from when I first got it. I need more warmth out of my system. It was smooth at first and now is trending brighter. I have the sovtek stock 6h30 in right now. I didn't like the eh 6h30 gold pins that much. Any suggestions. Anyone can chime in on this one.
I'm gonna go for the super tubes. Not gonna play around with the cheap stuff. I'm trying to Win a medal
@ yull @ labyrinth. I just bough tubes tonight. Waiting for them to ship. 6h30 dr. Wish me luck.
Well we will see what happens. It actually wasn't sounding forward to me. Just trying to get good sound. First time with tubes. Usually a solid state guy. We will see what happens. I'm also not trying to buy a luxury car price in audio. Trying to get to a good place so I can enjoy the music. Don't wanna compare with the world just trying to get a good sound so I can enjoy the music.

I'm also not trying to buy a luxury car price in audio. Trying to get to a good place so I can enjoy the music. Don't wanna compare with the world just trying to get a good sound so I can enjoy the music. This hobby is interesting. So many combinations. So many different sounds and preferences. I've heard 7500 dollar systems sound better than 30000 dollar systems. Some people are never happy no matter how good it sounds. I'm gonna get to a good place and enjoy the music. That's what it was supposed to be in the first place.
I thought about that one actually before I bought the ayon. I needed something smooth and warm. I also was told that the tube used is just a flat out better grade of tube than you can try on the ayon. It is warmer. Do you have the Vincent player now
Just tried hi fidelity cables ct1 out of Plano Texas . They are really good. Great micro details and balanced. Great transparency. Really good at details and treble extension.
Supertubes have arrived they will be installed tomorrow will report after I Have them installed tomorrow.
@audiolabryinth. The tubes made a huge improvement. I wish they would have told me to just by the 6h30 dr tubes in the first place. I am now going to keep my ayon cd2s. It is smooth natural and balanced from top to bottom. I am going to keep burning in the tubes but so far so good. Anyone who owns an ayon cd2s should use these tubes period. I will do another review in two weeks to update you my ayon brother. Lol.
They don't sound forward. I would call them balanced detailed and refined. Balanced because the other tubes were forward in the treble and thin in the treble., too heavy in the midrange and weak in the bass area. The dr tubes are just more balanced and sound just right. It allows you to listen to the music as a whole. It is very smooth and enjoyable. You are right I should have got the 6h30 dr tubes in the first place. I also just hear the hi fidelity ct-1 cables. They sound really good.
Cool, they are just flat out better than the other two tubes the sovtek and the eh. They are just more balanced, clean and smoother than the others.
