Difference between biampable and non-biampale spea
Thanks. My understanding is that the crossovers of my biampable AR9's are connected in series, that when they are single-amped, they are 4 ohms, that when they are biamped, they are 4 ohms. I think what you said about the parallel connection means...
Difference between biampable and non-biampale spea
I have to think about what you said, but I'm not considering biamping. What I'm wondering is that if single amping might actually sound better than passive biamping if the amp is big enough and depending how the crossover is designed. I'm trying t...
raspy high end
Pnjcic, Timrhu is probably right if they haven't gone through break-in. That is, they could sound somewhat horriible before break-in. But you probably know that. I wanted to try bi-wire against the recommendation of the manufacturer of my cable. I...
raspy high end
In my system biwiring was not desirable. Parallel wiring is--running two cables from amp to speaker and then strapping upper and lower range of speaker. Actually you can try current configuration and add straps to speakers. Then you can compare.
Need some Jazz recommendations..some pop and swing
Forgot to mention one of my favorites: I love the Hammond B3 in rock and jazz, and Funky Organ by various artists is a good recording which I plan to use to find more Hammond B3 music. Which reminds me that I hear a lot of jazz in the Doors. LA Wom...
Need some Jazz recommendations..some pop and swing
Flim & The BB's was sometimes called fusion. It's rock-jazz. Not sure if that's what you're looking for. They recorded in the 80's and 90's but most recordings are high quality--first on DMP label and then Warner. They are mostly high energy a...
power conditioner for cd transport and dac?
Linkster, someone on another forum said that regeneraters--while they improve clarity and detail--cause a loss in texture. I suspect that this listener has simply mistakenly processed distortion, the effects of a contaminated power source, grunge-...

power conditioner for cd transport and dac?
Do they negate the need for a dedicated circuit or would you use them in addition to it? I ask this question understanding that a dedicated circuit would provide no protection.
High-end amplifier clarification?
Then there is the definition that it's not high end if it's not hand-built.
power conditioner for cd transport and dac?
Hi, Ed,Thanks. I switched out the factory power cable for the audiophile cable again and this time it sounded better than the factory cable from the start. I guess I'm a victim of myself. Thanks for all the info. I will check it out.Lynne
Biwiring with separate cables for low and high end
Thanks, Al. I was thinking about putting in a 911 call. I will have to digest that. This also means that I can reconfigure.Best Regards, Lynne
Biwiring with separate cables for low and high end
Unless using both sets of speaker outs would make unacceptable demands on your amp. Does your amp have a load warning? Mine does. I can't use the second set to bi-wire a speaker. It will see two 4ohms speakers in parallel. I wanted to try a biwire...
power conditioner for cd transport and dac?
Emotional intelligence: interesting oxymoron. Ramble a little more about that, please. And three days is good. I can handle three days.
power conditioner for cd transport and dac?
How much time do power cords need to settle down? Same as break-in for IC's and speaker cables? I put an audiophile cord on an amp I recently broke in with it's own power cord, and it sounded so bad that I thought, "Oh, no. Can't deal with it righ...
