Economy amps from Channel, Nixon, etc?
Samson servo 120 amp ($189.00 from sweetwater) amd Onix amps from av123 are two others that comes to mind.I have tried the Harman Kardon HK 3470 receiver which was really good for the $180. Lacked bass power, depth, and the highs had a little arti...
Burned out Audiophile - Trying to Find some Zen
I agree with comments about MUSICAL JOY. If you can find a musical lover's system you will probably better happier than with a super analytical system which reveals faults in the system, recording, etc.The best advice I have gotten so far has hear...
Harbeth owners/ speakers rock ?
Yep, Epos and also ATC speakers are great with rock music. IMHO, I disagree with JM Labs ear-bleed speakers being good with rock music. At least on the rock music I listen to.
Amp for my speakers, PLEASE HELP
My 120 wpc Musical Fidelity A3.2cr could not drive the Ellis to their full potential. I would suggest A300cr power amp with 250 wpc for sale (as of yesterday) here at A-gon.Yes a 20wpc channel amp may drive them but you will loose dynamic range an...
Are Rotel amps and preamps any good?
I don't like Rotel stuff. While I haven't heard every component under every circumstance I found the amps either bright, boomy in the bass, or veiled / fuzzy sounding. The CDP wasn't much better. Cambridge audio is pretty bad too.I like NAD better...
Does anyone know the future of EAD.

Speaker design myths revealed
Nzera, do you have a link for Nelson Pass' comparision of the Jordan driver? I can't find it at 6moons archive
Speaker design myths revealed
Fiddler, what's an open baffle?Maybe up against the wall does not ruin left - right imaging but depth sure does suffer IMHO. Interesting what some folks consider a myth. Maybe Jordan is one of those "flat earth guys".There aren't many speakers tha...
Anyone else feel left out?
I do, especially when I read the U.S. audio mag's like Stereophile where "A" preamps range from a $4,300 SimAudio to a $39,000 Boulder. Okay, I left out the $1,000 Plecette passive. That's not a true pre anyhow, (dodging flames).I have found plent...
Best CD lens cleaner
Second the compressed air. Marantz recommended this to me as well.
What's Going On?? Sound changes every night
Music has been said to be like a condiment. Put on something to complement your mood or the situation.
What's Going On?? Sound changes every night
I agree with Onhwy61. You can get ear or brain fatigue after listening to music for a couple of days. Take a few days off and avoid loud noises (I wear hearing protection) and when you go back to your stereo, it should sound great. I've had bright...
What is PRaT
Single driver speakers have great prat. Listening to Blind Melon's "Tones of Home" right now and yea, the toes are tapping - with bass response flat only to 80 Hz. Go figure.
How does one get off the merry-go-round?
Getting hung up on detail, not music will keep one constantly wanting to upgrade to improve "sound" but will this improve the "music"?Is detail musically important? How much detail is necessary? Can overemphasis on detail draw attention away from ...
