Small room....treating 1st reflection points
I would suggest Real Traps. They can be a bit pricier than some of the others mentioned here, a few of which I tried myself, but in the end the Real Traps are what stayed in my room. The Mini Traps or lower cost Bare Traps might work nicely for si...
Computer vs CD/SACD discs
My interpretation is his purchasing decision was solely base on JA's opinion with special emphasizes on JA as someone special.Actually he asked my opinion as well and I am sure a few more people. Again, I thought his point was clear. Asking Atkins...
Computer vs CD/SACD discs
I don't know what his motivations are for saying this, but I find it ridiculous. What makes you think he has any motivation here. He is simply stating an opinion. I happen to have heard Dbphd's system on a number of occasions and it is quite good....
Is computer audio a bust?
USB was what kept me away from computer audio, but I finally decided to give it a try because of the convenience and my player supported it. Since digital is not my primary source I figured I had nothing to lose. However, after moving to wired Eth...
new interface/front-end for audiophile system
Metadatics has been useful to me for taggings. Others out there too. Have to say FLAC is best for tags versus WAV and AIFF. Prefer to use AIFF though so I use Metadatics to fix or customize my tags for use with Minimserver. If you are using iTunes...
new interface/front-end for audiophile system
I can certainly understand you perspective given everything else that goes on in our industry. Personally I preferred Audirvana, seemed the simpler approach. I hear Bit Perfect for Mac is another good option and maybe the simplest of them all. For...
new interface/front-end for audiophile system
Have you tried using programs that interface with iTunes like Audirvana and Pure Music. These programs have trial periods so there is no risk in trying them. You might find they offer some benefit. While I have a lot of respect for Jim Hagerman I ...
Newbie question re: USB quality
Alesis Masterlink into a good DAC is a nice alternative. I had one modified by TRL that worked nicely. Just wish the HD held more music.
Better software for DSD
JRiver for Mac along with the JRemote app is a nice solution. It is what I migrated to from iTunes/Audirvana as I wanted to completely divorce myself from iTunes. Since then I have also divorced myself from JRiver.
Help me set up new stereo system
Some of the software packages like JRiver come with EQ and other DSP capabilities but you do not have to use these features. I did not use them but I occasionally used the up sampling features.
Help me set up new stereo system
I highly suggest not relying on iTunes as the playback engine, especially if you will eventually be downloading DSD. Audirvana Plus will interface to the iTunes library nicely. If you want to divorce yourself from iTunes then go with JRiver which ...
Help me set up new stereo system
My advice would be to get the MacMini to start. Having a computer dedicated to music playback is better than using a shared computer if you care about sound quality. If you like using iTunes as the library then configure it to import CDs as descri...
Sota Sapphire S/N- 14,584--- Saved from trash
Why not call SOTA and ask them about the table. Great find especially with that tonearm.
Is computer audio a bust?
Can the PLEX server be run directly from a NAS like Synology? That is the big benefit of MinimServer in my set up.
Is computer audio a bust?
PLEX looks very interesting. I will give it a try and compare to MinimServer. I can see already PLEX offers some interesting features, just not sure I want to complicate things. I do like the simplicity of MinimServer.
