PS Audio vs Bel Canto vs Musical Fidelity shootout
I tried the PS Audio against the Odyssey Stratos Mono not the standard Odyssey. The PS and the Odyssey sounded different. The Stratos was more cohesive, the PS was more explosive. Detail was on par. Depth was on par. The Odyssey also sounded bette...
PS Audio vs Bel Canto vs Musical Fidelity shootout
Socrates, I disagree with some of your assessments but I certainly appreciate your calling them the way you see them. Did you try your super pc on each amp or vice versa the stock against the stock?
Panel placement for rear wall reflection problem
I would use the sonex or something thicker with a carpet over it for aesthetic reasons. Heavy drapes over windows are also very good.
Inactive speakers in the room...any effect?
The Linn dealers used to demonstrate the single speaker pair effect vs. multiples in a room. Each time a pair of unused speakers was removed the quality of the sound increased. Even non-audiophiles noticed it.

What High End Manufacturers Could Learn From Bose
Ryyno is correct. Bose has established it position in the marketplace in the minds of many consumers. Most of the high end companies are continuing to serve ever smaller segments ie. German large format cameras. The reason is not a lack of a bette...
What does Flat Earth mean in audio circles?
I use to read Fi. And I do care about those Linnie attributes but first and foremost soundstaging and imaging make it real for me.I also like images that are real height. Maybe that's why I subscribe to the Linn/Naim attributes but there is so muc...

Cross over frequency ???
No, not two separate crossovers just different frequencies for each section. If you could you would leave the subs at 80 hz but crossover the monitors at lets say 100hz. Twenty -four db is pretty steep. That should be a fast enough slope. If your ...
One hit manufacturer
I remember hearing this preamp at a place in Chicago. The dealer also sold Electrocompaniet. I can't remember why it disapeared. At the time I was saving the money to buy one. It might have been Victor Hifi but I don't remember anymore. It was a pr...
Cross over frequency ???
I think you laid it out very well Sean. Just one thing added, if you use something like a 6 db slope the transition will be very smooth but you may find out that you may negate part of the effect of the subs because the satellites are still active...
Crown SA2 Amp
I remember the SA2 but I have never heard one. I used to own the IC150 and DC300a. I don't own them now but I do know that the guy that bought them from me still uses them everyday. That is more than twenty years use and countless moves.
How to keep my stack of Adcoms cool...
You can't get around the fan in a closed rack. However, try putting the amps on the bottom of the rack near the floor. Don't play with the 555 when its gets hot it shuts down. Their are also passive chimney designs. The first guy responding was de...
